DriverSports GTS 2WD | Sunday April 29 | Monza

DriverSports.org is proud to introduce an international championship series for GT style race cars. GTS is a class of purpose built race cars representing a broad range of manufacturers competing on iconic GP tracks the world over. The selection ranges from standard LM race cars that were made popular in GT4, to the Premium RMs new to GT5, certain SuperGT, DTM and even new Touring Car DLC are eligible for this series. All told, 17 cars are at your disposal, all of which are capable of winning. Only DriverSports offers such diversity while maintaining the competitive balance.

Each car has been prescribed a specific engine build that result in as level a playing field as possible. The prescribed parts produce a specific redline and turbo boost gauge reading, meaning all competitors can be certain of the parts equipped on their opponents cars.

Each driver will be awarded 1 drop of their worst finish to be excluded from the final championship standings. At the track a live qualifying session will give everyone a chance at pole position in their division. During the season divisions will be sorted by current championship standings. Despite a maximum of 11 drivers per division, all drivers have an equal opportunity at the overall race win, as final finishing positions are determined based on a driver's overall race completion time.

No pre-qualifying or licensing is necessary. To participate a driver needs to register for each race prior to the registration deadline (30 mins before the race). A Live Qualifying Session will be held prior to each race to stage the grid. All driver aids, except ABS, are disabled.

The car list has been reduced to 2WD cars only. This will likely be the final event of this series.

scratch I'm kinda' confused (not unusual for me at all, I know). The 2WD part is clear, but the end of the series I don't quite understand... the series never started, did it?

No it was going to, but the class just hasn't rounded out the way we would like. We will likely be starting with a new selection next week.

Didn't get much prep, pretty much just a sorted gearbox. Quali'd second which was surprising. Almost died turn 1 lap 1. Burnt the rears off early, decided to pit from 3rd on lap 10 or 11. Got reset on pit entry, cost me a couple seconds. Running 2nd briefly after pits cycled thru, I had leapfrogged Rooster but not robiker. Forgetful got by a few laps later, I was happy drafting the Nissan for a while until I lost the plot at which point my times went up 1 sec/lap without the draft towing me along. Died from 3rd in the second chicane after putting half a tire on the dirt.

Not bad for a half hour prep really.

You pitted end of 10 in front of me. I pitted end of 11 and came out in front of you. Never passed you on track.

Good times. Had the horse for the course but almost threw it away. Got the holeshot, took off with a bit of a gap to 2nd but was so worried about what was happening behind me that when I got to Lesmo 1 I didn't know where I was.

On the next few laps I over-ran the exit of Ascari, and I thought I was toast, but the tires held up well and I got may act together to run down the leaders. Passed everyone in the pits I think, other than robiker for the lead.
