Re: DriverSports GTAcademy Support Series | GT-R SpecV | Friday May 18 | Fuji GT
a few questions for clarification:
does submitting a time in GTData already register me for the race?
and if so are we back to pre-q?
can you confirm that ASM, TCS and ABS is allowed?
I'm looking forward to this race, should be fun

A dummy time of 9'99.999 registers you (same as the old form), we don't need an actual pre-q time for this event. ASM, TCS, and ABS are allowed.
The "GT Academy SPECIAL" car was a handout from a seasonal time trial last year and is not sendable, nor can you change the number from 1. "The GT Academy Version" is sendable (and paintable), but I don't have mine broken-in yet. The regular version can be bought at the Nissan dealer.

I have all three but went with the regular one. Car is freshly painted and currently fights his way through the pack in lap 1 of Laguna Seca.

Live Qualifying - With all drivers present in the race lobby the host will set the room up for live qualifying. A short race will serve as the live qualifying session. The host will call all cars to the pits and start the countdown timer. Please remain in the pits during the countdown. On the first lap drivers will spread out as to be able to run unobstructed and to prevent drafting. All laps between are eligible for flying qualifying laps. Drivers must respect all track and contact rules. A lap with contact or departure from the track is not eligible. On the final lap drivers will not finish the race, rather they will slow down or stop and post their fastest (legal, clean) lap time in the PSN text chat (please don't use the GT lobby chat as it has a short history), after which they can quit out of the race. The host will sort and post the qualifying order in to the text chat, save the replay and set the lap count for the full race distance, while the racers take to the track in Free Run and line up in grid order (Fastest to Slowest) near turn 1. Once everyone is in order the host will start the race.

Re: DriverSports GTAcademy Support Series | GT-R SpecV | Friday May 18 | Fuji GT
hmmm, no tune to be found yet for any of the cars
so I set ABS to 1 and breaks to 4/1 and did some laps. It feels somehow arcadish, but that's maybe because the car is not as 'mean' as the Corvette and ABS certainly adds to it too.
After 15 laps I ended up with a 1'44.9. I have no clue what that is worth but my feeling tells me not too much.

This is an online, tuning-prohibited event. No non-standard parts may be added to your car
hope to see you there

I've just run offline a bit (need the miles) using DS3 (lazy), was doing 1'55s with 4/7 brakes (ABS1). ASM slows it down if you slide at all, and I don't think it spins the wheels enough to need any TCS.

I learned a while ago that even for tuning-prohibited events it is worth to look for tunes; mainly for 2 reasons: break balance and lap times

based on your time I assume you not only used a DS3 but your grandmother might have been sitting next to you also
Or of course I was in the wrong car or on the wrong track
I don't even consider ASM and TCS; break balance is what I'm interested in and of course lap times.

I think one of us is ten seconds out; offline vs online isn't that big a difference, is it? I may not run it online until after Tuesdays race.

yeah, ten seconds is a bit too much to be explained by online vs. offline in unbroken car. For now I just assume your time was a 1:45 and you remember it incorrectly

I took a handwritten note that was 10 seconds out. 1'45.663 showing in GTLife practice mode.

I tried to enter my time with 1'44.9xx and it made a 1'44.000 out of it. Now I have to get almost one second faster to make it true.
I couldn't find a way to edit the time after entering and I can't find the comments I made

If you literally used those "x"s, then that would probably have been filtered away as invalid. I changed your time to 1'44.999. I thought it would actually error on you rather than accepting the time, but I'll check that is true. "Notes" can be shown publicly, or not (depending on what the event organiser has in mind for this data) – I just turned them over to being visible.
Re: DriverSports GTAcademy Support Series | GT-R SpecV | Friday May 18 | Fuji GT
once again I'm impressed by the speed of your answer.
Yeah, I litterally typed in '1'44.9xx'; I thought I give it a try and expected an error or success; thanks for changing my time
Also many thanks for enabling now to stay online even after closing the web browser

I have both GT-R Spec V (GT Academy SPECIAL & Version) and I'm only seeing 487HP stock??? Does the HP come up that much by just putting miles on the car?

And doing an oil change, IIRC my three showed 501hp at 0km with fresh oil.

Re: DriverSports GTAcademy Support Series | GT-R SpecV | Friday May 18 | Fuji GT
Yup. And by oil changes. The car hits 502 hp (at least the stock one did) with no miles and an oil change. I believe you need to put at least 180+ miles to get full hp. Might be more or less or depending on the car but I think that's close.

Or maybe 501 lol

Ran some laps with 0 abs (didn't read the OP...duh) and 3/0 brakes and it's greasy lol. I thought the tires were supposed to be blue/light blue. The only color I saw was red.
I'll try to have a practice room up around 7:30 or so. I need some help on this track lol.

Re: DriverSports GTAcademy Support Series | GT-R SpecV | Friday May 18 | Fuji GT
Managed to put a good lap in before my internet took a nap. Was on 4/7 brakes with 1ABS when I arrived, and went to 4/10 brakes with 1 ABS. Still have extra front tire wear showing after 5ish laps so will try less front brake and/or more ABS next time I'm on in search of wear balance. 1'44.235 best.

Ran 44:108 with brakes set at 0/10, ABS 1. Had suprisingly good tire wear for a GTR. You definitely don't want to be early on the gas with the front wheels turned sharply, or this car will eat the fronts rapidly.

to no surprise that's exactly what happens to me. I set the breaks to 0/10 and still lose the front much faster than the rear. Nothing to blame but my driving style
I better practice pit entrance and exit for tomorrow night
