DriverSports G Production Series | Sunday June 17 | Autumn Ring
Driversports.org is proud to announce its newest series, G Production. This class consists of a large portion of pre-1975 cars under 2 liters available in GT5. They have all been matched in performance to create a highly competitive field. We will be running a six week series in these vintage machines on some of GT's original tracks. Drivers will have to commit to a single car to run for the entire duration of the series.
The regulations for G Production will have the race room set to 128hp and 850kg on Comfort Soft tires with all assists disabled. To achieve these specs, all entries will be allowed to have Stealth Modifications to the engine (Sports Intake Manifold, Racing Air Filter, and Sports Exhaust Manifold). There are a few cars that will also need additional Engine Stage Tuning, and some that will require the use of the Engine Limiter. Please note if your car is high mile, you may show different power/limiter figures than those provided in GTdata. You may not add additional tuning parts to make up for losses in power due to mileage. These extra parts will be readily visible upon tech inspection, and you will be disqualified from the race standings.
In addition to the engine limitations and room settings, GT Auto wings are also not allowed. You may use any combination of weight reduction, chassis stiffening, transmission, drivetrain and suspension parts. To meet the weight restrictions, ballasting (and ballast positioning) is allowed.
The preseason races have shown this field to be very competitive and exciting from the drop of the green to the checkered flag. We at DriverSports look forward to seeing you all on track for this six week showdown.

Choices choices. My Triumph is about a half a gear or suspension arm away from being truly competitive, but I have built it. I doubt anybody will drive it, so I'll contribute to car variety by choosing it. On the other hand, I'm not a fan of how it looks, and it defines much of what I disliked about 70s British cars.
I would love to see a Bellet in polarized purple with orange rims, and the Alfa GTA was one of my very favourite GT4 cars... hmm

the isuzu's are fast and seem stable, but also to promote variety, i'm sticking with the Mazda Cosmos.
i'd work a deal for the spitfire timney, but i just cant seem to make it go like you do ..... so mazda it is. Zoom Zoom.

Looks like the older Datsuns are unloved enough that I'll run one. Probably the 510 (more doors) even though the Silvia looks better.

let car variety not stop you from using the Alfa. Last Sunday I was the only one using it and I won't be able to attend most of the races. Make all Alfa fans proud

I chose the Bellet for both pre season races due to the stylized rear wheel wells, sweet exhaust note and blacked out hood, obviously.
But, I will be out to test a few cars. I think I want to run the GTA

I will... shockingly... choose the Triumph. If my PS3 could read a disk...
I'm opening it again today when I get home. Seems the old girl is really on her last legs. Having to open her up far too frequently.

I'll be doing some practice in the DriverSports lounge for this while the little guy is asleep. About 1-3 eastern.

Got a couple 38.2s in the "Triumph" in my last set of laps, just before you got dumped. All the difference is in sector 2. I was about to spy and see if it was performance or technique.

S0...did I miss something?
The Triumph is 'allegedly' able to get 121 hp? With the allowed parts? I have two (one with 30k miles and one with zero) and neither of them are getting much above 80 hp. And the 850 weight takes it down tow 327PP.

B. Nissan Bluebird 1600 '69 and Triumph Spitfire will also need Engine Stage 3

*headdesk*
Proof that while reading is Fundamental it is not required. Only read the Bluebird part!
Much better now!

Ok, without a basic tune (making it up on the fly) and I now see this is no ABS. Makes sense!
I'll be out there and pretty slow - I'm not trying to hit anything or anyone so I'm likely to be around the 1:45.xxx lap range.
See you all out there!

I tested that (and all cars) with ride height halfway down from 0 to however low it goes, 6.0 springs, default dampers/roll, 1.8/1.2 camber, no toe, 20/20/5 LSD, 3/0 brakes, and gearbox tricked - make sure you shift before the hp falls off completely.
In with the Datsun 510. Bellett tempting, but not enough doors.

Will be jumping in the DSO lounge soon. Most likely going to run the Lancer as I really enjoy thrashing that little car

Thanks - I'll give this a shot. I was able to get down to about 1:43.5xx but I'll give anything a shot!
Update: Not a complete *poop* sandwich, but better than before. Tranny was fine; I just shift at about 5800 on the Spitfire. Still thinking that I should replace the 'p' in Spitfire with an 'h'.

In. I would have put my tune in GTData, but that will wait until after race now.

Was up frontish but sort of coughed my way back to 6th by the end. Not sure if car or driver. Fun even still.
Might be half decent next week if I can get rid of most of the handling change.

That was a surprise. Good fun having other cars around to play with this time. I don't think I'll fair so well at places with long straights or big hills.
For those other Triumphant drivers that might want a tune, this was my setup:
