Uh, ..... you're welcome ? I should've paid closer attention to the points system details early on, but I only recently decided they mattered at all. The track selection in the GTC series as been fantastic; really enjoyed learning all of them for the first time. I enjoyed driving the tracks so much, that many times I decreased my weekly total by running too many races. I trashed a 133 pt. week at Watkins Glen last week by running a fifth event, and therefore letting the average kick in, dropping me to 114. Lol, it pays to read once in awhile.

one more week in the SRF before I try to transition to the Skippy. Unlike with the SRF I couldn't find a lot of setups for the Skippy.
This goes mainly to SpecMiata but I post here anyway as his answers might be interesting for others too.
How much tuning does the Skippy require? I kind of hope the base setup is decent. How much tuning did you do from track to track? Do you have some setups stored and can you share?
Thanks in advance

Glad you are joining in on the Skip next season! I plan to be there to launch an assault as I've finally begun to really feel comfortable. Regarding setups, I rarely make a change. The one I use is the one they always post in the weekly thread, I think it's called the Chalder setup from a guy named Glenn Chalder?
What is good about it is that the setup has notes, plus the car only has 4-5 things you can adjust so it's very simple to tune. I rarely touch it, because I'm still focusing on the car and my consistency.
When we get started in Season 1 I'll look for you in practice sessions and I'll help you in any way I can. You'll love the Skip, it's very similar to the SRF, but faster and lighter. I like the SRF, but it feels kind of like a tank after driving the Skip.
Cheers!

Thanks for the quick response. As a non-tuner I was hoping you were saying something like that. I'm now even more excited about next season than before.
I need 122 championship points with the SRF to reach my goal of 1000 points and as soon as I have that I start practicing with the Skippy. Gotta compensate lack of talent with extended seat time

You're kidding! I checked out yours stats and you did an awesome job driving that SRF this season. You were Captain Consistent!
You'll fit right in and fall in love with the Skip, in fact the racing is tight, but much less aggressive than the SRF.
PS: I hate tuning too...I'd rather be driving.

exactly!
Yes, my stats look pretty good but they are the result of a lot of practice. Job is very quiet recently and that allowed me to work on my '2nd career'
I enjoy it while it lasts, it might change any month.
Looking forward to seeing you on track

Practice makes perfect! I think that is the only way I get good results too. I'm too nervous just to jump in a race....kind of like real life. That is what I like about iRacing, it has consequences.

Re: 2012 Season 4 - Starts 10/30
I'm also glad to hear about nm tuning required in the Skip. It's definitely one of (maybe the only one) the cars I buy when next seasons schedule comes out. Prolly spending the rest on tracks if last season is any indication.
It's been interesting trying out different shared tunes from different aliens I've met out there. Some are about as 180 out from each other as you can get, but the guys are all very fast in their own tune. I've found one or two that I seem to go back and forth with and it seems that the day dictates the tune more than anything. I'll use a tune well for days and then I'll hop on and can't drive the car to save my ass, switch to the other tune and bingo. They're not that far apart either...wierd lol.
C'mon Season 1, 2013

Story of my life when it comes to iRacing it seems. I can never seem to keep it on the track for a full race. I was actually up to 2nd before the first crash.
Maybe it's because I'm always doing races really late at night when I'm tired...

Anyone planning on doing the 2.4 next week? I bought the McLaren but I'm not sure how much time I'll get to practice.

Started with the Chalder tune that Spec mentioned a ways back, which is what using for that ^ race. Lowered the front 2 clicks, and changed pressures to 18 front 20 rear, and those changes made a world of difference. Much less deadly to me now, ran two races last night mostly incident free, finished 3rd and 2nd. I've definitely had my fill of Summit Point though, as the last two times I've done races in iRacing have been the SRF and Skippy there. I really enjoy the Skippy though, it will be so much more fun elsewhere.

Woo Hoo!
Just ran the Meow before the 2.4 in the BusTank. Made split 7/19. 43 car field. 19 Fords. Started 19th Finished 6th Had fastest lap of the race by .6 I think my q time was a little misleading.

Re: 2012 Season 4 - Starts 10/30
What a night for DSO at the Roar!!
Holy Cow, that was amazing.
Split 1 was nuts. I started 18th, which was 2nd to last in the Mustangs, kept it clean the whole first few laps while people got sorted out. After a few laps we started dicing for position, and it ended up that 8th through 12th was within 1.5 seconds for the entire balance of the race.
I made a few good decisions, kept the car clean and ended up 10th on the last lap, then with some good luck I nailed the bus stop and got a monster run to pass 10th for 9th right before start finish. Woah!! What a race.
That was the most (stressful) fun I've had in a long time. The best part is because of the practice last night I ended up with 0 incidents; this also shows how clean the other guys were around me.
Awesome race, awesome night!!
Congrats on your race Forgetful, it sounds like we had similar experience (and looked good doing it too).

Congrats guys. I'm running tomorrows race. If its another 19 splits, I'll probably be in 11 or 12. Looking forward to it.

Good luck GT11. You'll have a blast. With this many cars you are always around someone. It's nuts.

Re: 2012 Season 4 - Starts 10/30
O and Amy to bed early. Finally see if I can arrange things in the office for driving. $49 for a year, sweet.
Not bad, but the desk monitor is way too small and far away after being used to sitting 6 feet from a 46 inch screen. At least I had a small 5.1 audio system from the 6 months before our last spare bedroom became O's room
The wheel feels different, so I must have lost a setting. I think I remember following a suggestion from Rooster about altering a setting in the Logitech tools on one of these threads. Need to track that down.
Main impediment is practice though. 40 laps at Laguna Seca in the Solstice and at I mostly just sucked.
