Forgetful, any tracks around your area that offer track days? I looked up Kamloops and it looks kind of secluded so I expect the answer to be no; but the mountain driving must be fantastic!

There's a drag strip 45 mins west in Ashcroft, Eagle Motorplex, there's a motocross track 45 mins north of here, Whispering Pines, and about an hour South West there's Motoplex Speedway, a 1/2 mile oval.

Only paved race track that turns left and right in BC is Mission Raceway, just outside of Vancouver. 3 1/2 hours away.

It's a sweet lookin' little track. That run out of the last chicane and on to the drag strip looks like fun.

Race City in Calgary closed in '11. Sad

DANGIT

Is it just left to weeds or are 154 ugly houses incoming like Oran Park?

Also yeah Mission looks like a hoot.

There's also a Spokane Int'l Raceway near you and your double post.

Dang, we're both pretty lucky.

From my house:
Sebring - 2 hours
Daytona Road Course - 40 Minutes
Daytona Oval - Don't really know where this is, but see it on tv when cars go in circles for 500 miles.
Palm Beach Motorsports Park (formerly Moroso) - 2 Hours
Homestead - 4 Hours
Roebling Road - 4 Hours
Road Atlanta - 6.5 Hours
Barber - 7 Hours

We're pretty lucky to have so many tracks around us, especially with decent driving weather all year.

Oh, I forgot:

Auto Club Speedway: 2.25hrs

Only done it once, won't do it again until I'm in a car with a proper cage. NASCAB banking at 125mph with no cage and a 3 point OEM belt... not the safest.

Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfEzuNI_1xk for reference (and to get more views Very Happy)

I got Limerock at 1.5 hours, been there three times
New Hampster at 2.5, never been but the group I run with goes all the time
Watkins Glen at 4.5 - 5, one time...out of the 2 I've driven my favorite
New Jersey Motor Sports at 4, like to do this one next. Has 2 tracks one thunder, the other lightning. Both are pretty cool

Surprised they allow that instead of using the in-road off the banking that the bikes use (halfway around 1/2). Guess nobody has wadded themselves up ... yet.

Also

2h30 to Mosport
2h45 to Toronto M.P. (Cayuga)
3h30 to Shannonville

There's another one somewhere in that range but I forget it's name or if it's even still open. Sports Car Revolution filmed there all the time.

5h30 to Calabogie

Well, friends south of the border, you're in for a treat. CNN has kidnapped another fine Canadian television personality. George Stroumboulopoulis debuts tonight on American television. He's a really good host and a great interviewer. Do check him out.

3h even to Dunnville.

Also, some spiffy looking new place in Germany, so new there's no English on the site.

All the Great American Broadcasters are Canadian.

That actually looks pretty cool. It might be a bit more practical every day. Someone needs to take unnecessarily arty shots of their car in these autotrader pics. Photo mode please.

Volvo's are hit and miss for reliability in this era, and irritatingly expensive on parts. My in laws exercised lemon law on a S60T of almost this age, and I shook my head at them, did some research and realised they were not alone. Then they bought another one crazy. Remember that Top Gear episode when they did essentially this, buying cool cars for about this sum of money? Then remember the start of the next season where they showed their repair bills?

But, if it made it to 120k, then it's probably decent. Also, I like it.

I am fairly resigned to the fact that whatever I'm looking at will be north of 100,000km, so replacing parts will be something I have to deal with. If it gets out of hand I can always move on since I wouldn't have to eat a bunch of depreciation.

That said, IIRC the TG boys bought their cars for the same price as Britain's cheapest new car, so they bought older and cheaper than where I'm looking.

I think this might be the one bounce

I think that 'brown' interior is actually called 'atacama'.

I thought it was 'George Hamilton'
