Truck template
Hey everyone, hows it goin?
Been runnin like a nut since I last posted. Closed on our house in Richmond Hill, GA. yesterday, and I've been spending most of my time doing my truck build out. I've got most of the machinery located and mounted, and 90% of the tools are in so now I need to concentrate on the outside while I have valid plates on it. The fella I bought it from let me run the current reg. out which expires Oct. 31st. So I'm trying to get anything done now that requires moving the truck.
So...I'm going to get the truck "wrapped". It's actually cheaper than painting and what they can do with the graphics is pretty amazing. You're only limited by imagination and mb's lol. Which made me think of you guys and the car templates. I can't find anything like my truck. It's a 2005 Freightliner MT55. I'm sure you guys have all seen the large Snapon, Mac, or Matco tool trucks on the road and maybe a few of you go on them. It's basically a rolling billboard. I was hoping to find a template to try some editing for base colors. I've got a logo and some pics and some basic key words to place, but I don't know how to do it just using pics of the truck. The graphics guy I'm working with has the programs to do that type of work but I don't. And just throwing ideas at him and waiting for a version in an email will be slow. If I can try some stuff and see what does or doesn't work from the start will save a lot of time imo.
Any suggestions?
And I hope everybody is doing well. I swear I'll be back soon,
Tracy

Re: Truck template
Glad to hear you found a place to call home. Had a similar problem when trying to come up with graphic s for my enduro kart. The way I got around it was to take a couple of pics from different angles. After that I edited the photos in Photoshop (don't remember the details of the process) until I had just the basic outlines. From there I just printed off a bunch and began sketching out ideas. You can also draw/colorize in the editing software of your choice. Just let me know if you need any more detail on how I got the outlines, I'm sure I can figure it out again.

Pics straight-on of the side (or any surface that's being wrapped) are handy. Google Images search suggests it's basically a big box on wheels, so it may be easier to steal (a) pic(s) of a (preferably white I suppose) truck the same bodystyle/length/whatever as yours.

Re: Truck template
That's what I just tried and found I suck at it lol. There were actually a lot of pics of the truck under images and I did what you said and snagged a white one. Biggest problem is they're extremely low res. We're going to meet up with the wrap guy inna few days so hopefully we'll get some good ideas from what we've seen. I have a headache.clacksman wrote:Pics straight-on of the side (or any surface that's being wrapped) are handy. Dem polished rims Lookin good Tracy, I'm glad things are moving forward. So is it a working rig yet, or just advertising?

Re: Truck template
Not workin yet. All the machinery is placed and mounted, and half the wiring is done. Should be finished after the first of the year and hopefully I'll be able to do a few jobs here to debug before I take it to GA.
