Welcome to Round 1 of the DriverSports VSS at Daytona International Speedway in support of the TUSC 24 Hours at Daytona. After the watches have been handed out we will take to the high banks for a Double Header, 10 laps under the hot sun, then 20 laps under the hot lights.

Registration closes at 8:20 and the room will open at 8:30pm Eastern. The track is then immediately open for qualifying as the practice session lap times will determine the starting grid for the first race. The finishing order of race 1 will be reversed to set the grid for race 2. Fuel use could be a factor with the long stretches of full throttle.

Hard mode uninstalled. 1 second gained per lap, and braking is very straightforward, even with racing brakes installed.

28 great laps, starting from the back to make it nice and interesting, and two lag spikes putting an end to what would have been a really interesting three way finish between rooster, forgetful and me.

Good stuff, nonetheless.

Very fun racing, was excellent beyond words to rejoin many old friends once again on-track. Thanks for allowing the ABS, it made a huge difference to me in Fun Factor, and after all, that is why we race together. Good Times were had by all, spectacular evening of racing. I'm glad you guys had fun. I did too, but I am a little embarassed because I wiped out in both races. Almost killed Swerv coming in to T1 at full speed the first time, trying to pass on the outside. Spun and almost collected a couple of cars.

Race 2 I started, got traction on the banking, but goosed it too soon and had the back step out, leading me to spear Agent in the door. Really sorry about that.

Really happy to see the fields getting better and it's great to share the track with old friends. See you guys again soon!

That was some serious fun and competitive racing while it lasted. I was extremely fortunate to win both segments of the double; definitely not the fastest car, maybe 3rd. In the 10 lap sprint I ran very little downforce, which allowed me to sprint away with G44 glued to my back bumper after some others got tangled up at the start. Timney ran me down and would have passed me in one more lap, but just ran out of time. I got away early after a similar start in race 2 with Peyepete hanging on to second for awhile until Forgetful and Timney stormed back through the field to run me down once again. Serious lag destroyed both of them in the last 3-4 laps, which handed me a lucky win. It would have been an exciting finish, but unfortunately it didn't work out that way.

This is a great looking series, is it a points championship? I haven't seen anything posted about a points structure. If so, will there be any drops allowed over the 12 week span ? I'm committed for this Sunday due to the Superbowl, so I'll miss race #2.

I was also glad to see Swerve, Peyepete, and DudeDozerTuna out there. Hadn't raced with them in years.
