Spoke to him last night and nothing was broken. Betcha he's sore as hell today though.

I think so other than being sore all over, air bag burns on the forehead, and my right leg is banged up from the knee to the ankle from being driven into the dash/center console wrap-around. Thanks for asking.
The Atlas truck pictured hit the full sized Chevy Silverado on an angle, driving him up the embankment and flipping him upside down, then still had enough momentum left to drive all the way up almost to the back of my driver's seat. The force of this impact then shoved me into a Jeep Cherokee. I saw traffic stopped ahead and was able to stop safely, the next thing I remember was a loud noise, total blackness, and waking up on the shoulder.
My car was still running, and when I looked back to see what just happened the first thing I saw was the right rear passenger seat headrest just behind my right ear.
Everyone made it out OK luckily, It sounds like I got the worst of it.

Yes, everything above the waist is sore, along with some dizziness and blurred vision. When I take a deep breath it feels like I'm being stabbed underneath the right shoulder blade. The pain meds prescribed knock me out for several hours at a time.
I'll probably get another Sonata. I really loved the one I lost, it was a great ride and never needed any warranty repairs or had any goofy problems. I haven't ruled out anything though, except for all GM and Chrysler products. We'll see how the insurance company treats me.

Oh crap, that was a really bad one.
I like the Kias better than the corporate-twin Hyundais that are on the same platform(s). Anything similar (midsize sedan) that's not Japanese you get to eat it on resale time if you're not the drive-it-forever type. If you have a rental in the meantime (and the dizziness effs off) that can be a good excuse to try the best candidate of midsize sedans.

Actually, the Hyundai's do very well on resale these days, due to their popularity. Also they have a shit-ton of warranty compared to all other brands. Honda is probably the only thing that does better, but you pay more and get less features and warranty.
My 2011 Sonata GLS had touch screen NAV and 16" Alloys and MSRP'd at only $24,320. Now you can't get NAV on anything without buying the "Mac-Daddy" version $30K and up. So it will be diificult to replace my car. It did not have a scratch on it before the accident.
Hell, I see one year old Impalas that retailed in the low $30's going for $13K. I looked at a 3 Year old Sonata today with 36K miles and it was priced at $19K, and books out well. It was an SE model that sold for about $27K brand new.

Re: My Thursday Morning Commute ....
Hyundais aren't so nice-resaley up here - the national warranty (5yr/100k km) isn't particularly special. And there's a stigma for anyone over 30 (or not landed before about 2000) - we got Ponys starting in the mid-80s and then Excels for a couple years (that's how long they took to disintegrate), and then four years of Quebec-assembled cars that were even worse.
Those 1-year-old half-pricers are ex-rentals, there's lots of those around all the time from the dumbestic brands and if you want a Japanese ex-rental you just have to be patient or get a dealer to find one (they exist, just not as many of them). The GM dealer in Barrie gets batches of about 100 of those ex-rentals a month, and blankets ads for them until they're gone. Kind of funny to drive thru their lot and see two dozen of the same colour parked in a row, then the next row is the next colour ... then next month it's Cobalts instead of Impalas or Malibus.

Re: My Thursday Morning Commute ....
Hyundai's have a 10 year/ 100K mile powertrain warranty here, and 5 yr/60K full comprehensive. In the Baltimore area you can barely give away any domestic brand, they are perceived as garbage. Hyundais and Kias are nearly as popular as Honda and Toyota here now. They were stigmatized years ago, but are viewed as a top brand here at this time. Things have clearly changed.

Absolutely. Here's the current Canada lineup; looks like 'base' Sonatas are loaded like yours ($1k above the hybrid Sonata). Previous-generation Accent hatches were available at $9995 for a manual crank-window if you were paying cash. I don't think you can get crank windows on anything new now.

Hokay, including $1650 delivery and $129 levy (?), not including cool post format
2.4 (no "price adjustments" unlike the higher models):
GL (16" alloys, 6-sp automagic, pw/pl/pm, heated seats/mirrors, 9001 airbags) - 25,778
GLS - 27,778
SE (this is where the LCD screen starts being included) - 29,778
Limited w/navi - 33,178
Hybrid (includes -$5k price adjustment aka possible govt rebate thingy or maybe just standard incentives):
(base) - 24,778
Limited - 26,978
Limited w/tech pack - 30,778
2.0T (more incentives, $4500-5000):
Limited - 29078
Limited w/navi - 30,978
Limited w/ultimate - 35,978

Re: My Thursday Morning Commute ....
I love car porn. On the 2011 Sonata GLS (base model in the USA), you could get touch screen NAV for $1750 as part of a Popular Equipment & NAV package, which included 16" alloys, power driver seat, chrome interior door handles, and of course NAV. Now alloys are standard on the base GLS, but NAV is no longer available, just as Clacksman has illustrated.
If I can scrape up enough $$, I'll prolly go for an SE 2.0T. The Kia Optimas look good as well, also might consider a new Mazda6.
Off to bed now, I feel like I've been hit by a truck ....

I love the Mazda 6. They look good in every colour. Wouldn't do the diesel, or anything turbo (lolinsurance).

Re: My Thursday Morning Commute ....
The '15 Sonata is a new design, so the '14s will be clearout-priced as soon as the '15s are popping out of factories. Alternately, the $28.55k sticker for a starter 2.0T buys an FR-S right meow.

Reads comment, looks at his avatar.... Begins to wonder if the internet cats haven't started to warp clacksman's brain.
Oh, and yeah, equivalent pricing does tend to make one think of alternatives. To go the other way from the FR-S, I'd look at a Jetta SportWagen for the extra carrying capacity. Drove one a while back, pretty darn nice ride.

People often measure how many V6 Mustangs you can get for the same money. Lemme calculator that... 1.
You can get 1 V6 Mustang.
