That sounds like somebody eager to try out his new toy in anger for the first time.Forgetful wrote:

Hoping to see a good car selection out there.

I tested (while putting this entire event together) a maxed and limited-to-542hp-room M3, it doesn't take much limiter from fully broken-in so I doubt less than maxed (to use less limiter) is faster.
Basically:
M3 is fastest, but hardest on front tires due to being heaviest and having 53 or 54% (I forget) front weight.
Camaro is next fastest, but hardest on rear tires due to having 53% rear weight and lots of torque.
RX-8 is slowest and easiest on tires (due to being light and well-balanced), but not by much.
Should be interesting.

I won't get to run this one actually. I'll be at work counting things.
Rather than list all the parts I just wrote in the blurb there at the top, but I see it got overlooked. Will write them all out next time.

not sure if I'm able to make this one but it certainly seems very interesting. I'll try to get a q tonight or tomorrow morning so that I'm eligible in case I can race Sunday night.
I would definitely show up in the BMW.

Bummer.
I read it, but wasn't sure I comprehended. Got it now, I think.

the M3 tune shows 558pp while the regulations have a limit of 556. Just saying
I get my fully broken in car to 556pp and 534hp at 90.4%

That may or may not be a typo in my GTData tune. pp isn't regulated for this event (notice the Camaro makes a bunch more - 575). For hp on the BMW you just need to get into a room set to a 542hp limit.

Idjuts breaking the car now. Also breaking in the car.
Re: DriverSports Daytona 24 GT Repli-Race | Sunday Jan 29
but the technical regulations for the BMW says 556pp max. So can we clarify if it is only a hp limit for the BMW or both?

That 556 (and 575 for the SS and whatever I got from the RX-8 ) is just an indication of what correctly built and broken-in cars made (at max. aero) for me as I set up the event. A pp cap isn't part of the settings for this race.

Hmmm a Sunday race at one of my favorite tracks, and a chance to dust off my beloved RX-8, one of the finest cars I've ever vDriven?
Saturday shall be a drivin' day! Sunday... we race!

banked a 1'49.0 last night; nothing to be proud of but at least I can race if I make it back home in time

RX-8 gets everything but turbos; blower, stage upgrades, exhaust bits, etc, get 'em all on there.
edit: aha the RX-8 tech parts list doesn't say to do the stage 3 to the engine.

Tried the Camaro and RX-8 quickly tonight in practice. The Camaro was good straight out of the box (although a fully customizable tranny would be nice ), whereas the RX-8 felt terrible! lol Put a quick tune on the Mazda and she's much better now. Hoping to decide on the car tomorrow after Bob has finished breaking the Chevvy in and I try her with some sort of tune, then I'll post a qualifying time, just in case I can make the race.

What will be really interesting is if the RX-8 can go with out a pit. I don't think I'll be able to safely do 20 in the BMW without a stop.

I won't make it tonight, another ski trip totally exhausted me.
Good luck everyone.
