won't be able to attend Wednesday night but already did some practice this morning. This event has a high potential for frustration. Right now I can't see how I make 44 laps w/o ending up in the sand a couple of times.
So far my best lap is a 56.0; don't know how good or bad that is. I see a 55.8 in gtdata but that might be after only a few laps.
Anyway, whatever I do, it feels slow. For now I decided to drive everything in 3rd (4th on the straight) except for the start and when I pull out of the sand

Lap time is good VK. clacks and I ran a few saturday afternoon and he was hittin 56's. Gearing is about right too from what we saw. 140+ down the straight should make braking interesting lol . Definitely a lot of car for that track. Frustration level is an 8 I think .

Just a few laps is correct, and not broken-in as well. I was also using 3rd gear everywhere that isn't straight.

55'902 after 30 more minutes; but I don't think my front tires will last 44 laps

58.1xx. I run 2nd gear after turn 3 all the way through the back curves. If a get the car pointed straight enough in between each curve I can get a nice little spurt of 100% throttle fully hooked up. I flip to 3rd going up the hill on the last lefter and run 2nd around the rights leading back down to the straight. I think most of my room for improvement is in my braking. Getting better though. This car is a lot more stable than the lotus.

Did you try using 3rd gear? The reason I use 3rd instead of 2nd (at least so far) is to make it easier to drive the line I want (lower rpm is less throttle-sensitive).

Not sure if you're aware of this and you may be doing it already but as an fyi you want to do your practice in your lounge, not the practice spot in GT Life. The physics are very different. Like I said, you may be doing this already, but if not you prolly want to. The times are different in each, and the car just doesn't do the same things. The aliens figured this out a long time ago and I just wanted to make you aware of the difference.

~30 laps of practice, got 'er down to 55.4xx (once), mostly in the upper 55s, lower 56s.
Using 3rd most everywhere, though sometimes dropping down to second getting on the straight with fresh tires.
Using 4/0 brakes (any rear brake is deadly)

tells me that I can stop searching for time and start practicing tire conservation. Thanks for the info
My frustration might have come mainly from trying to be faster where I just can't be faster.

Cool, need some breakin myself (practice too lol). Ran a few with No_A yesterday and we're curious to see what you guys think for a no stop. 20 laps is about where we saw a real need to freshen the rubber. 1 spin and that number goes out the window.

Re: Corvette Cup 1/3 | Friday April 27 | Suzuka East
I haven't run long enough to have a pit guess yet, but I think this track has a higher percentage of distance in curves than most others so it may well be the most wear we've seen yet. I have a slight rear-heavy wear bias after 5ish laps, but I tend to have better fronts at the end of a stint than all the nonaliens.
But but butt.

Re: Corvette Cup 1/3 | Friday April 27 | Suzuka East
I'm going to put the additional 100 miles my vette needs to be broken in for this. My first non Sunday excursion in some time, I hope.
56.0 a couple days ago when I played with this, preferring 0/0 brakes.
If I had time I'd calculate the pit stop by trying a race distance run without stopping. But I think it will be damn hard to do that without a couple of off track excursions, which will make the estimations difficult. My gut when practicing said that not pitting would be tough.

Re: Corvette Cup 1/3 | Friday April 27 | Suzuka East
Some 8-lap practice races with 6 drivers made my tire wear look like I can make it, but I don't know how it feels beyond lap 12ish. Tentative full-distance prac race Thursday night 8ish, probably Roosters lounge.
Went to 3/0 brake to add some front tire wear (more rear wear is a bad trend ending in bad news), 55.391 once. Didn't try 2nd gear anywhere yet.

Re: Corvette Cup 1/3 | Friday April 27 | Suzuka East
Sorry I bailed last night. Had a cat incident occur right as I got clacks in the side as he was comin by. Got two cat sisters who on occasion go mental and tear thru the house. Last night they decided I was to be part of the obsticle coarse. One ran by and the other ran acroos me, which scared the hell out me, cuasing me to yell which scared the hell out of her. She then of course dug every claw she has into my leg trying to get away so I yelled again lol. She flew off my lap right at the TV stand got caught in some usb cables, ripped my headset out but not the wheel so the PS3 got yanked off the stand onto the floor which pretty much ended my night. The usb cable held but the HDMI cable didn't (monster cable too) and pulled apart. Had to stop and get a new one today cuz of course I have an extra that's about 8 inches too short. At least I was able to use it to check that everything was still working, but I had to hold the console to do it and decided that I can't hold the console and steer so had to go get the new one lol. The only thing she left standing was the TV which is a good thing. Otherwisw we'd be having Chow Mein for supper tonight ( I hear they taste like chicken). All that destruction prolly took about 7 seconds if I were to guess. Not sure how long it'll be before they come around me lol.
See ya Friday,

ProTip: Never buy HDMI cables from the store. Buy the cheapest one you can find online (6' for $2).
HDMI is a digital signal, so the quality of the cable matters very little. Monster (and other 'high end' cable manufacturers) do a very good job of pretending that's not true, but it is.
I highly enjoyed imagining the scene in my head

Yea, I didn't know about the cables before when I bought them. At least I didn't pay the 70 bucks Tweeter (local now out of business) wanted lol. I have found them on ebay for the price you posted. That's where I got the one that's a bit too short. Anyway, thanks for the tip .
