Sigh. Getting dive bombed and pushed around then crashed into by cars 1-2 seconds/lap slower on lap 1, to wind up trying to avoid constant wreckage, or cars stopping in the high speed esses to let me past with nowhere to go, or breaking 25 meters before where I would without even the merest tire squeal. The driving is engaging, but half the time I still enjoy this game about as much as random rooms in Prologue.
Especially irritating after using the PS3 the other day and wistfully uncovering replays of my last couple DSO races from last year.

I was thinking about dropping bills (... 2 of them...) to put on a race today for some Memorial Day/Day Off fun. Anyone interested?
Ben, speaking of DSO race rooms.

Ran some Street Stock this weekend around USA International and there's a part of my heart that warms to know that Street Stock short-track racing is still, and always will be, like watching monkeys hump toasters.

Sorry, only plans tonight are relaxing post BBQ. Flexibility with being able to race more or less whenever is iRacing's biggest winning point. Not racing with your friends though, is not.

Yes, the frustration can be high at times, but saying its relevant to Prologue seems a stretch. From my view, while there is a lack of talent and/or smarts on the part of a few drivers, it is at least not the majority. To that end, when I look back to open lobby racing, or god forbid, something like Shift, I shudder. That was pure stupidity at its finest with very little racing actually taking place. Granted, the little racing utopia DSO created on the PS3 was splendid, it was certainly not without its (many) faults.
Not only that, the ability to create the same thing in iRacing exists with all the tools to do it properly and easily. I for one am much more excited about what iR currently offers than anything I previously raced. Worldwide competition with a community that largely seems to be interested in full on heads up racing, and still have the ability to get together with my racing buds. Yeah, I won't be going anywhere else anytime soon.

Re: 2013 Season 2 | April 30 - July 22
League racing with iRacing is probably the pinnacle of sim racing right now.
Of course having iRacing's open racing at hand has lifted the burden of scheduled event planning, and now that I don't have to carve out specific times to go racing, I find it harder to carve out specific times to go racing.
I've moved in to the McLaren and the Ford GT as the cars I'll run to get my participation credits. Deep fields, so I doubt I'll be contending for any championships this season. Though I'm enjoying my new found heel-toe'ing skills, it takes me a while to get up to speed in anything I have to clutch, so I won't be running the slower cars this season. Still practicing a lot, but man was I hopeless last night in the SRF at Sonoma. Over 2.5 hrs of race time in paddle shifted GT cars beforehand will do that to a guy.
I'm not opposed to running something, but of course I've said that before. Part of the problem is the limited number of cars iRacing has means that it's hard to come up with something unique enough to put on that would attract participation.

Hopeless = What kind of lap times?
And re: The rest of your post, with iRacing the levels of administrative work is drastically reduced, so if we can figure out a car to drive, and a schedule (tracks as well as day of the week) we're there. The rest of it is drumming up participation. And possibly sweetening the pot with sweet sweet DSO swag. What will set us apart from the rest is ... us. There's a good group here along a wide band of skill/pace, but racing is just better when you're doing it with people you know will respect you on the track. (I have not had many terrible experiences, all things considered, but I think that point still stands.)
Re: 2013 Season 2 | April 30 - July 22
I'm not sure how you read lap times like this: 2x Loss of Control, 2x Loss of Control, 1x Off Track, 1x Off Track.
Couldn't keep the backend under me. Coming off the throttle to get on the brakes was causing me to spin on entry pretty much every time. I went at it for about 5 mins. I might have just been too tired to be driving the extreme elevation changes that are not friendly to the SRF.
The desire to organize is still there. I roll ideas around all the time.

I made some spreadsheets, let's use 'em!
1'54.6 felt pretty heroic, which means I suspect 1'52s from "real" people.
lolwut... I just looked up the top qualifying time for the track last week in the SRF and it was 1'49...

Practice before bed last night, thinking I might race today. Experience was as above.
This morning, full rest, few or no errors. Never mind the lap times, but they were very decent. Rest seems absolutely necessary for me with the SRF. It's not enough to just try and get in a rhythm, which I can do late at night with some cars, but I need to have all that subtle feel as well as full speed reflexes available.
Then I get two races today and get smashed several occasions by people all having the same experience with Sonoma as above. Not malicious like the old random rooms, but I just couldn't stay ahead on the first lap and once I got mobbed by cars that should have been concentrating on their own car control, not pushing passes. Hence frustration. At least on my second race, even though I got smashed into the pits twice over 4 separate occasions, the automatic systems understood the incidents mostly correctly and only gave me 5 incident points.

51 here, but that's not important. Difficult track (really difficult I think) means big time spread, so you sure won't just be tagging onto the back. Frankly, finish the race without two, or more, 2x and you would gain lots of spots. Guys that were around my time at Interlagos were a second or more back from me here.

Woooooooooooo, 2nd win of my iRacing Career!
9th to winning, 0 incidents, my first win in the Skip and first perfect race. Also set a PB fastest lap of the race for good measure.

Dem trip amazing driving skills! Congrats!
I won in the FGT yesterday. Not my first, but first in that car where I wasn't the only car in class...

... Shut it... Pay no attention to the awful SOF, that was outside of my control. My ill fated comeback to iRacing last Autumn resulted in my iRating plummeting from ~1600 to ~800 Onwards and upwards! +100 helps. 19 second gap to 2nd place. /flex, that is all.
I'm going to try and upload a video showing triple screens in action, though my first attempt resulted in a video with some pretty awful vertical tearing and gaps in the images.

Every time I see FGT I think Formula GT... Dat nostalgia.
Congrats though!

Jumping in to the Skippy practice room US845 for some giggles. If anyone wants to join me. Going to try and find that 1'46 pace again.
Re: 2013 Season 2 | April 30 - July 22
Taking Skippy to the Okayama Full course in 5 minutes. Just got out of a Inside iRacing MX-5/Solstice mixer at Limerock. Remembered why love Limerock. Remembered why I hate running against Rookies in default grey/grey liveries. Turn 2, lost all steering because Rookie thought my LR wheel well looked like a good place to curl up to stay warm. Finished midpack after a 1'30 tow and speeding penalty (over aggressive coming out after tow) stop and go. SOF was 1500 though, so actually went up in SR and iRating.
Came out and ran with the leaders for a long time after moving to let them through. Felt good. Felt like I can get my iRating back up.

SBRS at Limerock, just jumped out of practice after 32 timed laps. Probably one of the best nights of practice I've had. Started out at 1'01, quickly worked my way down in to consistent and comfortable low to mid '59s with an optimum laptime of '58.478 which was comparable to the leaders. Was the fastest guy in the room for quite a while, and I'm within arms length of the guys who were quicker than me.
Also shared my setup, which was really well received by some of the newer folks to the Skippy, who appreciated it's neutrality versus standard setup.
So... yeah that was a feel good night of practice.

Great job William!!
LRP is a funny place, especially when you are trying to find that extra tenth or two. It's such a small place, and very hard to find more time.

Biggest time I found was under braking in Turn 1 (because decreasing radius must be abused while still open) and Turn 5 (because exit is more important than entry, with Turn 6 being slight feather Turn 5 basically is where you get your speed for the main straight).
Once those things were figured out, low 59s were my jam. Pushing to get in to the 58s resulted in some interesting and hilarious offs though. For sure a race I plan on running though.
Re: 2013 Season 2 | April 30 - July 22
Nice job man. It's funny LRP is one of those tracks that once you push just that extra .5% it will try and kill you. There is little to no room for error.
I hope to be back on the rig soon. Since my eyes got opened to my financial situation last month I haven't even looked at my rig; hell, I hope it still turns on.
The ironic thing is, I'm moving many things in my house around, and through this I'm gaining an office/man cave. My dream was once I finally got a man cave and the room to have a triple monitor set up I was going to go for it. Well, I got my man cave, I should be moving the rig in there over the next week or two, and I will have the room for a 3 monitor set up; but now I don't have the money I've been saving for the upgrade.
Isn't life funny. At least the truly important things in life are still going well. Hope to see you guys at the track soon.

Re: 2013 Season 2 | April 30 - July 22
Got my 0'58.8 lap in during a race at LRP. Was distacted and rolled off the blocks before the green light, had to stop and go. On my way in to the pits on lap 1 I was crushed by a 3 car pile up coming out of the last corner. Shoved one car through the pits until I came to a stop in my own stall, he had to go around again/get a tow.
Charged through the field, finished 4th only because I ran out of gas on my way up the hill and couldn't pass the guy in 3rd. Winner's fastest lap was 1'00 with an average pace of 1'01.8. Dat consistent driving.
Quite happy I used the lower left button on my G27 as a mute button - two guys fighting over 9th place got in an accident and spent the whole race bickering with each other. Wait til their transmit indicator pops up, hit the Mute button, voila, peace.

Hey, I did this once. Just fat fingered the shifter and it slotted in gear with a couple seconds to go. I hit the brakes and waited there for the start, then made my stop at the first chance. As I was driving around though, I thought to myself, why not just keep on driving the second you realise you've jumped the start, even if it was by a considerable margin? Is there any greater penalty that comes down on you?
