i'll be running this tonight, but unsure of practice. the list of honey-do's keeps growing.
leige isnt an easy track, but i may need to wing it with little practice
clacksman, are you up and running? hope so

I see the iFrame, but I see no document inside it. All of the shared Google docs seem to be doing that to me.
All I see is this bit in a white box:

I really liked it too. I even got a stage win in at the end there.
Rally, as imfaster will tell you, is NOT about powering through the big slides, coming out of the corner sideways. The most important thing, just like circuit racing, is to get your car pointed in the direction you want to be going, and to get to full throttle. Wheelspin is bad off-road.
Use the width of the track, start wide, apex, exit wide. Slow in fast out is an understatement with such a high risk of damage. I found myself braking really early and rolling in to any corner at the end of a fast run.
The map setting is really important too. If you have your map locked to the car and set to 5 or 6 zoom, then it's like having a co-driver.

These. Other than I wasn't using full width at the apex; just the width of the level stuff between the banks (using the banks fine entering and exiting).

it's really funny...most people out there think that rally is all about that huge drifting power slide coming through the corners. in actuality sliding too much means loss of momentum and therefor loss of time. the question im asked most often while racing online is "how the hell are you going so fast with the same hp cap as everyone else??" i always tell them the same thing. quit sliding the car so much and you'll go faster. sure the car is going to slide and it needs too but only to a certain extent that you can bring the rear-end around (rotate in rally terms) and point the nose in the best direction to exit the corner...ie set the car up for the exit. selecting higher gears helps tremendously with wheel spin coming out of the corners. excessive wheelspin = loss of momentum and loss of time also.
it takes practice to get each car to do exactly what you want it to do. it takes even more practice to slide as little as possible without losing too much time thru the corners. with fixed track layouts its easy to practice the same corners over and over again. not easy at all with changing the track layouts. had i known about the map lock and zoom thingy i might have stood a better chance at not damaging the hell out of my car. as it was i was just flying through the track with my overview track map and really couldn't tell what exactly was ahead until i was going thru the corner. next time around i'll know what to do when i get time to practice...bring a co-driver.
use the tools at hand right???!!!???
even though i didn't do well at all in this series it was still a blast and i look forward to the next one.

Registered in the wrong car, can only use IE at work so I can only see the first ~20 characters in the drop down. Sorry.
Weekdays will mean I get in the door around 6:25pm, so please send the chat invite but don't hesitate to just go if I don't make it by the cutoff.
