DriverSports Tin-Top Touring Challenge | Sunday April 1 | Road Course - Indy

Welcome to the DriverSports Tin-Top Touring Challenge. Race coordinators have identified 8 Premium RWD cars that were able to be built in a way that is verifiable by checking the redline, boost gauge readings and exhaust note and tip. The parts allowed are the best possible combination that will produce the indicated redline with the correct exhaust equipped, which means not only can the race marshals perform post race inspections by reviewing the replay, but so can anyone who has access to the replay file.

This series will be host to a Championship spanning 6 races over the next 6 weeks. Once entered in the series drivers must stay committed to one car. Each driver will be awarded one 'drop' of their lowest score, meaning the championship will be scored by a driver's 5 best finishes. Please note that this series makes use of DLC track content that you must purchase to be able to race on.

General Technical Regulations

GT Auto:
Oil change, car wash, rims, paint and refreshes are allowed.

Tires: Sports Soft

Your installed parts, performance statistics, HUD readings and exhaust tips and sound must match the accompanying image and video exactly. If unlisted the default part is equipped. All cars are equipped with the default Standard Transmission. No gear whine should be audible on any car. The maximum power figures are achieved with a fully broken in, oil changed and engine refreshed car with less than 10,000 km. Adding illegal parts to make up for an unbroken car is not allowed.

I'll be joining you guys tonight for this race. I had a question, i don't see fully customizable Transmission. I assume we are using the stock transmission. I'll be practicing with out it, i'll check back in a little bit.


Edit: I've also been looking for the procedure for submitting a Q time.

Do i run a 1 lap race and submit that time?

This is our last race that requires a pre-qualifying time, so it's no longer written in the rulebook. Sorry about that. After tonight you'll simply need to register for each race before the deadline and then show up on time for live qualifying.

For now, as Timney said, just run 5 lap races in your Lounge to get your best lap time with the proper room settings.

I was looking around and i saw the other race series beginning next week so i will be joining that one instead. I also have a friend who might be interested and would like to give this place a go.

Fun conclusion to a great series. The field might not have been completely leveled (ahem), but the best I've seen for an event with this many car options. And even with the apparent cheater car, the difference was not so obvious as "it just turns the fastest times, period". The TVR suffered badly in any corner, but being able to be first into the first corner made controlling my fortune substantially easier. Rack and Rooster were neck and neck with me for lap times, but the secret of this car is that it doesn't loose much tire, can do those times deeper into the race, and the car remains drivable.

Also, this was the only event I could attend, but not the only night I could put some laps in, so I probably put more practice laps in than anyone, including spreadsheeting a full race run to calculate whether or not to pit (that's practically entertainment to me).

I'd love to see this series return later with some tweaks to the relative strengths and weaknesses of the cars.
