I'll be missing the rest of this series. So I won't be opening any practice rooms for it cuz I'll be in Ca. I'm sure clacksman or one of you other capable fellas will be setting up practice lounges. Good luck to all. That last one at La Sarthe should really great. Get that beast into 5th for more than 2.3 seconds lol. Have fun guys,

after a first round of testing I'm at 1'01.029. I'm very confident to get into the 1'00s but don't think under one minute is possible even for aliens.
Did that motivate you to prove me wrong?

I made it into the 1'00s only once and tires could be a problem tonight too. The very short pit stop at Tsukuba might make a one stopper a very valid option.

Re: Corvette Cup 2/3 | Friday May 4 | Tsukuba
So I was breaking in a new Corvette on Daytona just now, and I noticed at around 40 laps or so (100 miles) that the handling improved by a ton, and my laps times started dropping by a noticeable amount. Honestly it was like someone just flipped a switch to make the car handle the bumps better. This is just me using a DS3 and putting absolutely no effort into the drive btw.
So here's my question: Do the car's chassis break in too? I guess that would explain a few things, but I figure I'd ask anyway.

I've had handling get noticeably worse at about that distance. It was a New Beetle Cup car. GTAuto chassis refresh fixed it up. Sometime after that I tested two identical standard S2000s; one low-km and refreshed, and one 'fresh' off the UCD, and the refreshed car was much easier to drive and faster by about .4 sec/lap.

Lame. 50 or so laps of practice, didn't hit a 00.x but I got close once.

Re: Corvette Cup 2/3 | Friday May 4 | Tsukuba
rough race but stuck it out till the end. Had some trouble with the pit. Got damage on turn 3 first lap had to pit but missed the entrance and ended up just driving through. Once i came around, I got in and all fixed up then on cold tires, promptly put it right back into a wall. On the subsequent pit got punted from the pit entry for goin too fast. Came all the the way around and got all fixed again. By this time im on like lap 5 and already three laps down. With my confidence shook, it was hard to push after that. I just wanted to run consistently and make it to the end. Thought about throwing in the towel but no good comes from quitting. Every experience is valuable no matter how challenging.
Cant wait for the next round. Hope I dont have to work. Thank you guys. Sorry Forgetful if I braked to early on that L1 turn 3, I was trying not to overrun the corner on cold tires.

Glad you made it out; pits were unforgiving tonight. I intend to practice pitting at least once next week.

Re: Corvette Cup 2/3 | Friday May 4 | Tsukuba
My replay is junk. Not worth recording. If someone else has a decent one to upload i'd be willing to post it to the youtube channel.
I had a strange race that didn't involve pitting. At the start of the race, during the black screen, my wheel rotated all the way to the right. I just figured it was re-centering, but when the race started I was full lock right.
I managed to get that sorted and catch back up to the back of the field by T3, but I got greedy trying to get beside Vig and put him off. I came to a dead stop but we ended up in a 'after you, no, after you' situation, so I rolled on while Vig backed out.
I put it in the sand a few times, but found myself in third late in the race after Vk's trouble. He was able to reel me in with a few laps to go, which means my no pit strategy was not good. I was kind of glad not to finish third. It would have felt dirty.
Anyways, a tough race, but I'm looking forward to the next one.

I have the replay and since I was the host it should be okay, I haven't looked at it though. I already have it as a zip file on my laptop but now I don't know how to upload it. I use photobucket for my pictures but it looks like they only let me upload media files.
Any advice on how to upload?

Upload to google documents, set sharing to 'anyone with the link', post link. Or upload to gamefront and post link.
This was one of those races where crashing less helped a lot.

So how did this one turn out ? Obviously, my race ended on Q lap 1, one big bolt of lightning and a thunderous boom, lights out. At least G44 had company on the sidelines.

rsb, me, vk, not sure after that. Lots of errors to go around, if you had run and simply not died you'd likely have won.

So here's what I don't get. I noticed the braking performance was actually better at 3/1 than it was at 3/2. And by performance I mean shorter stopping distance. I don't know. Guess I'll figure it out at some point.

Re: Corvette Cup 2/3 | Friday May 4 | Tsukuba
As with everything, there's a point where more is too much. With 0 ABS at play there's a pretty low threshold for braking sensitivity.
What is likely happing at 3/2 is that extra 1 at the rear is preventing some forward weight transfer under initial braking. Less weight on the fronts under braking means less braking force.
Remember, your brake balance settings is a sensitivity setting that determines the rate the brakes build to their maximum braking force, not an overall strength setting, so a higher number means slightly more force at a lower brake pedal pressure.
If you want better (shorter) braking distance, you want you front brakes to grab harder, sooner, and you really don't want your rear brakes bring the rear down at all.
