All in all a fine first race. Settings all good except feedback still too weak, gotta remember to turn down ... something, I have it maxed in-game (40).
Read the setup guides in the forum for teh Logi wheels. Apparently makes a big difference. Also dig up the three threads I linked about linear FFB and set that up too.
Did so, but still have profiler damping at 100% which seems to make everything but ABS pulsation pretty weak.
Good old morning SOF, pole start, led all 25 laps, SR +.20, reset PB to 1'01.848.

I think I am running 0 damping. ABS kick is a really nice feature I wish GT5 had. It lets me know I am failing at the left foot...
Re: Season 3 - Starts 30/07/12
0 damping in the game setting or in the wheel profiler setting? I have 0 in game and now down to 80 in the profiler.

Profiler is, as I recall, set to 106% FFB Strength, 0% spring, 0% damping, 900 degrees rotation.

Maybe with 1s and 2s instead of 2s and 3s.
Died exiting final turn lap 1, collected two newly-mad aussies, SR still went up .08. Neat.

LOL! You can have your car burst into flames and kill half the field in Rookie and still get SR. I noticed on your first race you only had 1 incident, nice work Mang. Glad you're having fun, I'm psyched for you to get some laps in on Lime Rock next week, it's twice as much fun as Okayama. I think Okayama is my least favorite track I've ever driven. Really it's a shit course.

Close, Futurama. Both Matt Groening though, so you may live... Trying to break in to the 1'02s consistently again, and I think my 1'03s are the result of me trying to follow a line that I learned watching a guy running 1'00s. Suspect that my chasing his line is slowing me down... But now finding my old line again...
SR gains losses are all about your average incidents per corner. Okayama has quite a few corners per lap, so hitting someone there isn't as devastating as, say, at USA International (Short track oval racing lollllllllll) with 2 corners. Last race I placed 2nd in, got rammed from behind at turn 4, Contact 4x...
Also: I really like Okayama. I really like Limerock though. I enjoyed Summit Point well enough, but ffffffffuuuuuuuuuu Summit Point Jefferson Reverse...

B-b-but I liekAidaOkayama. Tested LRP briefly in the Caddy, lovin' that it's old narrow angry-curbed bumpy LRP not new smooth stupid-curbed chicane-infested LRP.

Haaaaaaaaaaate Caddy... Haaaaaaaaaaaaate... It's like driving a school bus with power oversteer...

Never been great with bovine cars. That Merc in my signature not withstanding, really love driving that thing!
Re: Season 3 - Starts 30/07/12
Been TTing all the base content rookie stuff. Street stock at USA was fun. MX5 at Jefferson was interesting, as was the Solstice. I think I like the place, got good bumps and curbs. Solstice quite a bit more forgiving than the MX5.

Jefferson reverse is the DEVIL!
Yeah, don't like it there. t'all.
Street Stock is a blast, but short track racing with 16-18 drivers is like...
Yeah, pretty much just like that. I think I raced against that Goat recently actually.
Re: Season 3 - Starts 30/07/12
I seem to have been bumped up to Class D license on road. The race (which I won) gave me +.11 and the +.4 cushion for a total of 4.44 in rookie (showing in results of most recent race), now at 3.44 Class D.

I like that track, but in my only race there, a backwards driver hit me head-on.

Yeah, once you pop up over the 4.0 mark you get an auto-promotion in license level, and go down 1.0 SR so you have some earning to do before you get another promotion. The loss of 1.0 SR happens if you get promoted from being over 3.0 on the promotion date too I believe.

I assumed it was preordained somehow, just surprised there's no related notification. I had to deduce based on increased eligible road series.
Time Trials being average of some number of consecutive clean laps is at least clever and probably brilliant. Seems a good device to learn the new combos every week.

That was a blast, but damn I've to Q for those MC races.
Way to reel me in there. I see you're well in to the 56s.

Watched c-man for a few laps earlier go from 9th to 7th. Nice drivin. Textbook clacksman . Not sure if that was a warmup or actual race. Was gonna swith over to Roo, but he was already gone.

First race there (no Q as well), reset my PB by a huge margin I think. I had only TTd it once previously. The lane I was in was slow off the line, think the guy in front of me wasn't doing 100% throttle.

Warmup isn't scored for position (I don't think) and it only lasts 5 minutes so that was the one race Stephen and I were in.
Doing the Caddies at bottom of the hour, then won't be back out until after at least dinner more likely after the rolex race on tv.

Just did a good solid race in the 'Stang at RoAm. Started 6th and finished 6th. Good fight for 4-8 all race. Got a dented hood and trunk when the guy I was following forgot where his gas pedal was exiting T6, but the handling wasn't compromised and we all fought on cleanly afterward.

Re: Season 3 - Starts 30/07/12
Another Top 5 finish at USA International. Lap 34, running 3rd looking at 1st place owing to an incident up ahead caused by lapped traffic, double sideswiped by the 2nd place man, spun so I am looking back in traffic, hit head on by the 5th place car. Got back to pits, insta-repair, finished 5th anyway. 4x Incident for getting hit twice, still managed to go up in SR, since that was my only incident all race.
Short Track Oval Racing is basically the best, most funny thing ever. If you guys haven't tried it, I strongly encourage you to. I've yet to finish outside the top 5 at USA International despite starting from the back every race. Without that incident, I would have even been within a few seconds of the lead car. Running 24.5-25.0. Not quite but still !

Ooooh man, you're going to have fun. Or want to choke a baby. Either way...
For what it's worth, don't try and qualify and around USA International, if you're starting from near the back of the grid, take the formation laps to warm up the tires a bit. And just get out of people's way. The race will come to you... Going to run the 2pm race as well, hope to see you there!
I suggest TS for the sharing of hilarity, because concentrating too hard on these races is bad for you.
