DriverSports Progression Club | Jan 9 | No Tuning | Silvia S15 '02 | Laguna Seca
Welcome to the DriverSorts.org Progression Club, an introduction to the methods of car building and event restrictions at the disposal of the DriverSports event staff. Beginning with a stock car in week 1, we will progress to a lightly tuned street car the 2nd week, a mild Race Modifed version in week 3 and a potent race car in the final event. Tires will advance accordingly as well.
This month's subject is the premium Nissan Silvia Spec-R Aero (S15) '02. This lightweight RWD is a favourite of drifters and is often overlooked in the world of competitive racing. Thanks to PD's Race Modified version it's a great platform for this series, starting off as a mild RWD street car and ending up a serious track car. It is our intention to promote a better understanding of how and why we allow certain parts and disallow others.
Week 1 will run with Tuning Prohibited to experience the stock car on the Sports Hard rubber it was born with. Week 2 will see the tuning restriction lifted and the 'Stealth Modifications' and Sports Medium tires allowed. Week 3 will bring the Racing Modification in to the mix (please note that after race modifying a car it needs to be broken in again). The stealth mods will stay, but an increase in power and speed will come with the Racing Modification and jump to Sports Soft tires. The final week will be run with all of the engine upgrades allowed, except for the turbos, what we call 'Max RPM', while also advancing to Racing Hard tires. All four events will have TCS disabled and ABS allowed.

Needed a stock-weight Silvia, bought one last night and broke it in via B-spec. Delicious Chocolate Pearl paint applied. Should be able to run this.

Q'd. S-h tires don't feel remarkably grippier than the C-s tires we had here Friday, I guess because heavier car.
edit: and don't mind me picking the wrong year car from the drop-down.

Suggestion for live qualifying since there are still bugs to be worked out there:
1) We do a live Q session just like normal.
2) After the set number of laps is completed everyone types their best time in chat. Host or whoever then works out the order.
3) Host then resets the room settings a couple times.
4) We then line up in the live Q order just like we would have before (1st place goes to first turn, then everyone lines up behind in grid order).
5) Host starts race.
Just a suggestion. I figure it will only add 5 minutes at most to the total time of race and qualifying.

We worked out something pretty close to that a few minutes ago.

I had no intention to run this event, Q'd her right off the showroom floor. It just looked like too much damn fun to pass up.

More often than you know. Congrats on pre-pole btw
With the room setup properly the host will call everyone to the pits and start the countdown timer. A race will begin with the full lap count, however this will be ignored in favor of the total race timer at the top of the screen. 10 minutes will be allowed for everyone to achieve their fastest lap. During this session drivers may pit to repair damage and change tires. Once the timer reaches 10 minutes all drivers will complete their current laps and then park on the track. All drivers must stay in the race while the host exits to collect lap times. The host will enter 'Watch Race' to view the live timing statistics, sort the drivers fastest to slowest, then post the qualifying order to the text chat. Once this grid is posted all drivers must exit the race room immediately. The track will reload and a replay of the entire qualifying session will be generated for the host to save. Once the track is open everyone will take to the pits, enter the track and then park in the order established by qualifying, posted in the text chat. The listing on screen does not react, so please be aware of who is supposed to be around you.

Re: DriverSports Progression Club | Jan 9 | No Tuning | Silvia S15 '02 | Laguna Seca
That race probably would have been a lot different if heavy damage wasn't on. That was an intense replay to watch. Props to clacks, forgetful, rooster, and tourist for playing through the pain of bent steering ...... or is it a deflated tire? Ya know the open circle at one corner of the car status/tire wear thingy.

I don't think I had damage either, at least on the car. All mine was inside my head.
