DriverSports Progression Club | Mon Jan 30 | RM MaxRPM | Silvia S15 '02 | DRC
Welcome to the DriverSorts.org Progression Club, an introduction to the methods of car building and event restrictions at the disposal of the DriverSports event staff. Beginning with a stock car in week 1, we will progress to a lightly tuned street car the 2nd week, a mild Race Modifed version in week 3 and a potent race car in the final event. Tires will advance accordingly as well.
This month's subject is the premium Nissan Silvia Spec-R Aero (S15) '02. This lightweight RWD is a favourite of drifters and is often overlooked in the world of competitive racing. Thanks to PD's Race Modified version it's a great platform for this series, starting off as a mild RWD street car and ending up a serious track car. It is our intention to promote a better understanding of how and why we allow certain parts and disallow others.
Week 1 will run with Tuning Prohibited to experience the stock car on the Sports Hard rubber it was born with. Week 2 will see the tuning restriction lifted and the 'Stealth Modifications' and Sports Medium tires allowed. Week 3 will bring the Racing Modification in to the mix (please note that after race modifying a car it needs to be broken in again). The stealth mods will stay, but an increase in power and speed will come with the Racing Modification and jump to Sports Soft tires. The final week will be run with all of the engine upgrades allowed, except for the turbos, what we call 'Max RPM', while also advancing to Racing Hard tires. All four events will have TCS disabled and ABS allowed.

I'm about to qualify this morning. Based on yesterday's race can I expect pit stops tonight too? Did anyone already test?

Didn't test, but this thing might be a no-stop as it has downforce and is only 1000kg. Might.

When I ran this out on last Monday I don't recall thinking "oh, you're gonna have to pit this one" like I did with the BMW, but I didn't do more than 5 laps. I think the question will be about what happens to the handling at 50% wear. Whether you get some harmless plow or start doing the bus stop in reverse.
Re: DriverSports Progression Club | Mon Jan 30 | RM MaxRPM | Silvia S15 '02 | DRC
well, to be prepared I practiced the pit entrance
strategy will be to watch tire wear and car behaviour as well as watching what the others do.
q'd in Butterscotch and on timneyb's tune. Almost at least, I used full downforce and slightly different gearing.

Who is hosting?
If there is a need, I believe my connection is good. I just would need a co-host who would tell me what to do.

Sounds like this was another fun race and a shame I couldn't make it. Foghorn Leghorn??? Clacksman?
What happened to Rooster? Hopefully not connection problems?

Thanks to draft I could even make it a 5-way battle for 4 or 5 laps; or at least I could hang on to the lead group.
But sooner or later I always make a stupid mistake and lose ground.
But finishing 25 seconds behind them isn't that bad for me.

Re: DriverSports Progression Club | Mon Jan 30 | RM MaxRPM | Silvia S15 '02 | DRC
Great race last night. Tire wear looked like it was going to get interesting in the last laps, so I tried to baby the tires in the first half, hoping that others would burn theirs up beyond all use. It didn't quite work though. Although I felt like I had a little more tire than Rooster and Group at the end of the race, I didn't have enough to get past from caboose position. I find it so hard to mark my braking into the bus stop when I'm behind other cars and on old rubber, so I play it very safe, but am too far away to draft past two cars.
Also, good racing with robiker in the middle, maintaining the gap then closing back up to Rooster and Group at the end.

That was a fun one for sure. That lil Silvia RM seems to make for some outstanding racing. Wouldn't mind seeing this car return
Rooster and I got a gap (appeared to be mix up behind us that created it) then promptly gave it all away trying too hard to keep the pack behind us. Gotta say I felt lucky to finish in 2nd. Timney had more tire and was really lookin hard to pass those last couple laps . Also had it not been for a little extra excitement for robiker in the bus stop with a few to go, it was shaping up to be a four way drag race to the line
Thanks again to robiker for getting us a room to play in.
