FR-S/BRZ/86GT Track Meet - Friday 16 November
2.09 brings new toys to play with despite no GTData or me, they need a bit of a test so that's what this 'event' is. Tire Wear/Fuel rate is now variable, and the update notes suggest online handling may match offline now.
The three cars (2012 premium Subaru BRZ, Toyota 86 GT and Scion FR-S) are identical in performance when broken-in.
In the DriverSports lounge: set Tuning Prohibited to On, tires to Comfort Soft, all the realistic stuff On and might as well include ABS On as we're likely to be a bit rusty.
Job 1 : Try the various settings for "Tire Wear and Fuel Consumption Rate" and report back what happens.
Job 2 : Try these cars at one of the Cape Ring tracks with the loop (full, North, Periphoutery) and see if you virtually die there and report back.
The race (if enough people show up on this short notice) : Tsukuba, 20 laps, tire & fuel rate set to 'normal', 9:15 PM start.

Yeah, sorry about that. Was only supposed to be down as long as it took us to move and get the cable guys over. 11/27 GTData will be back and same as ever.

I'm not able to do any testing today, but will get on as soon as I can tomorrow. Also, is the 2.09 DLC? I think I did it but don't remember and won't be able to check. Sorry for the non help.

2.09's a refinement of tire wear & fuel use (with addition of multiple wear/use settings online), as well as an update to make online & offline physics more similar.. some other stuff i'm forgetting, but that's the bulk of it
will post when room is up, start race at appointed time provided attendance is enough

To actually answer Wall's question, 2.09 is all free stuff (100ish MB worth of tweaks) with nothing to buy.

I just now saw this .... I guess I can make it at this point (wife feeling ill, so not heading anywhere and i can always shoot people in the face afterward.)
I definately, without an ounce of doubt, will be showing up in an unbroke-in/brandy new car.
I call last place .....

Re: FR-S/BRZ/86GT Track Meet - Friday 16 November
Fil and I ran for around 2 hours last night at Cape Ring North testing. There's definitely a difference in the tire/fuel settings. Very fast wear at 6 laps showed 1/4 tire wear and 5/8 fuel remaining at 1:50 or so lap times on CS tires. Fast at ten laps was 1/8 wear and 3/4 fuel. We didn't (or I didn't) check out normal. I was really throwing the car around pretty hard so a lighter touch would yield better numbers I'm sure, but prolly not that drastic. I ran the Scoobydoo and the Scion but not the 86 cuz it had been tuned with non-removables. Both cars actually did pretty good on the CS tires imo.

SO the banking wasn't deadly? That's quite a change.

No, not really. You could put the car pretty much where you wanted it and hold it. Had a few times hitting the corners before well and entered at 100+ but you had to back it down a bit. You still don't want to be up and out too much, but I stayed fairly low and maintained 93-94 mph . Patience at the end of the circle let you track out better and hit the crest at 100+.

Previously, you had to be about 20MPH slower than that or the back end just wouldn't follow the front. Interestin'. That opens up basically any track to race these things on - for example Deep Forest and the 'Ring used to be not possible due to having banked corners.
