I won't be able to attend the last race of the series, I'm out of town all week.
But timing could be worse, La Sarthe isn't my favorite track anyway.

Strangely, that GT Academy Special GT-R SpecV '09 is technically identical to the GT Academy Version GT-R SpecV '09 and the regular GT-R SpecV '09.
In for tonight.

Almost coughed it up a few times. Lap 4 braking for Mulsanne, went long. Had more rear than front wear just after half, turned front brake up to 4, that helped, but started to burn the right front (which goes downhill pretty rapidly once you get one front worse than the other), and almost died at Arnage on lap 8. Good times.

that was an enjoyable hard mode race. although i had to pit a few times, i had fun and found it challenging. dont know how rack ended up behind me at the beginning. i dont remember seeing him go off but there were a few dust clouds i drove through and he must have been camo'd in one of them, with his yellowish car.
forgetful - dont know if you were rearview racing, but at the end of the first long straight going into the chicane, i was just a tad late on the brake. i was literally standing on the brake and yelling 'no! no! no!'. my wife came running in to see what the commotion was about. maybe the replay wont show it, but that was so close to a major blundering fiasco. i would have cried if i hit you. i think thats what through off the rest of my race. i wasnt good after that.
i wish no_affil had stayed on track. at the end i was almost a lap down (first straightaway when clacks crossed the line and only a handful of seconds from crossing line when timer ran out). i think no_afill was having a tough time too. maybe we could have hooked up and amused each other. lol
had quite a few good practice races, but i pushed way too hard at race time. either way, love racing la sarthe. thanks for including it in a rotation. got an itch now to run '09 at night. best track in the game, imho

Re: Corvette Cup 3/3 | Friday May 11 | La Sarthe '05
rsb and I had a great race all day. I love this track, and I love this hard mode too.
Q'd poorly because I lost in in Indianapolis, started 7th.
Picked up a spot on the start by getting a short false start penalty that acted like a wheelspin preventing lift of the throttle. Didn't mean to, but it just happened that way. Should probably go back to not using that at all, unfortunately.
Picked up a spot on the Mulsanne when rack took his detour (looks like he blew the brake point and abandoned any hope of making the chicane). Picked up another spot when exiting the Mulsanne corner robiker had trouble getting hooked up. We went side by side through the first kink and then sorted it out.
So, end of lap 1 I'm on the tail of the lead pack of 4. Racing insues until the end of lap 2 when I bump roo through the first Ford Chicane. Roo was never the same after that, so I worried I had damaged him, but he did hang on for some time.
Things settled out and clacksman had built up a gap while rsb and I fought over 2nd and 3rd. We closed up on him on a cloud of smoke at the Mulsanne corner on lap 4, but it wasn't enough for us to get in to his draft. rsb and I continued to race back and forth.
Lap 7 or 8 rsb ran deep in to the porsche curves and fell back out of my mirror. About this point clacksman started giving up chunks of time with clouds of smoke, so the heart rate started building.
Lap 9 it all came to a head. I was could see clacksman, and one more lockup and I would be on him, but rsb had worked his way back in to my draft, and if I made any kind of mistake, I would give up 2nd... which I did in the second to last of the porsche curves. I got greedy on the throttle in the transition and pushed off the racing line. On worn tires I pushed wide in to the deep sand, did a half spin and dug my way back on to the track for a lonely 3rd place.
All in all a great, enjoyable, challenging race , but also very very very disappointing to end it that way.

I saw ya comin'. I'm pretty good at keeping one eye on the mirror in corners like that.
