DriverSports Cappucino Cup | Friday June 29 | Suzuka East
DriverSports is proud to present our latest challenge, the Cappucino Cup. A six week series using three phases of car specification based on the '95 Suzuki Cappucino. Drivers will run the first two weeks on the default Comfort Medium tires with Tuning Prohibited. The second stint of the series will move to an Improved Specification (fully lightened, with Stealth Modifications to the engine, and fully tuned except aero) on Comfort Soft tires. We will then finish the last two weeks with the Race Modified version (again limited to Stealth Modifications on the engine but with any turbo upgrade) on Sports Medium tires. Races will be roughly 50 mins long. Registration closes at 8:45 and the Drivers Meeting begins at 9:00 and ends at 9:10 pm EST.
Phase 2 begins with this event, and continues next week at Grand Valley East.

You will need to update your PS3 firmware (to 4.20) to sign in before this event, it's not an optional update.

There will be a practice room open on THURSDAY night for this race on Friday. There seems to be more activity thu. than wed. hence the change.
Thanks, Wall

Well I have a little change of plans. I just scheduled a job for tomorrow that's about 6 hours away one way, so it's doubtful I would be back in time to have a room open Thursday. I will open a lounge tonight (WEDNESDAY) for practice if anyone's interested and we'll see how tomorrow goes on my end. I'm sure clacks or Roo will have a room up if I don't.
Sorry, Wall

Thanks for the invite last night Wall, but sadly I am stuck playing nothing but Downloaded games until I get my new Bluray drive.

Hey Saint, welcome aboard.
There you go!
There is no more pre-qualifying, just registration which you do by submitting any time.
Live Qualifying - With all drivers present in the race lobby the host will set the room up for live qualifying. A short race will serve as the live qualifying session. The host will call all cars to the pits and start the countdown timer. Please remain in the pits during the countdown. On the first lap drivers will spread out as to be able to run unobstructed and to prevent drafting. All laps between are eligible for flying qualifying laps. Drivers must respect all track and contact rules. A lap with contact or departure from the track is not eligible. On the final lap drivers will not finish the race, rather they will slow down or stop and post their fastest (legal, clean) lap time in the PSN text chat (please don't use the GT lobby chat as it has a short history), after which they can quit out of the race. The host will sort and post the qualifying order in to the text chat, save the replay and set the lap count for the full race distance, while the racers take to the track in Free Run and line up in grid order (Fastest to Slowest) near turn 1. Once everyone is in order the host will start the race.
There you go!

Really didn't answer my question. I understand the concept, but how many laps are you running for the Q'ing. 3, 5, 7? As my tires are not really warming up till a few laps on them. I know everyone is running together, I just want an idea before I have to do it.

Live Q race is 5 laps, so you've got laps 2-3-4 to generate a time. Cold tires indeed.

Put up my best lap. Hopefully you guys aren't more than a second faster. Only thing I'm not sure of is my tranny. Got the car rolling pretty good (for me lol). See you guys tonight. I was messing around Saint, you put up a correct register time lol.

I thought running low 1:06's, according to the lap count, I might be close, but it doesn't look like it.

1'06 is what was used to set the lap count, but it looks like I- I mean the Stig yeah the Stig does our testing - wasn't so quick that day.

Re: DriverSports Cappucino Cup | Friday June 29 | Suzuka East
congrats on the podium! was able to hang with you alittle while wall, and then you started driving off. had a glimmer of hope when robiker had some trouble. it slowed you up alittle and i made up some ground. you guys kicked in the afterburners tho .... left me eating dust. :-)
held up for saint and we had some good action to the end. i hope he enjoyed it, as i did! i made a late pass down the front straight on saint and thought we could get through the 1st turn together, but it forced him alittle wide and off the track. waited up the next lap and gave him the spot back. my bad on the late pass .... sorry saint. hope you join us for sunday! g-series cars are awesome!

I got a good start and battled with robiker for awhile. I wasn't that fast for the first few laps (other than a good start off the line) but figured it out quickly. Eventually he made a mistake large enough I could get out of draft range. Almost coughed up the lead a couple times as the tires wore unevenly, good thing they paved outside turn 1-2. Tune in GTData. Good times.

Re: DriverSports Cappucino Cup | Friday June 29 | Suzuka East
After lookin at yer tune I'll have to see how that tranny does compared to mine. Your best lap is over a second quicker. The supension setups were close with you having harder springs by a little. I tweeked the rear ride hite just a smidge to adjust the under/over steer which really worked well. You could see a drastic difference going up or down just a few points which surprised me. I'm wondering if the harder springs help in the last turn. I had mine at 5's which was fine for the rest of the track, but the last turn kicked my butt. Never got a good rotation thru it and couldn't seem to find a good line. It's also where I would lose all the ground i made up on Robiker. I'd get rite up on him thru the back section, and lose enough so that I would just catch him again at the end of the straight. If I could have stayed with him there, I think I could have gotten a better run to pass. I thought about tryin to outbreak him into T1, but decided that would be a really stupid move lol, so lets try to get thru this race without any of those. I really had a fun time. It's nice when you don't screw it up in lap 1-2 and take yourself out first thing.

Congrats Wall ! sorry I missed this one, tried to sneak in late but it didn't work out. Off-topic; is there anything in the works for Tuesday July 3rd? With some of us having off Wednesday for the 4th it might be a good night to race.
