I missed GT4, played GT3 like a madman, then Forza (Original) (found strategy guide... holy hell that game had features...), then GT5. Then found you guys. Now you can't be rid of me...

I continue to get super lucky with my Mustang races. I decided to do the 8:15 race last night and it split and was the highest SOF race this week so far. I finished second and netted a solid 116 points, putting me back in 1st overall for the championship (though that won't last once everyone gets 4 races) I'll be missing the next two weeks () so every week I can race is important! It looks like the Mustang and the inRacing News Challenge Solstice are the only two championships I'll have a good shot at. SRF is a lost cause at this point after missing last week and probably this week (not a fan of Lime Rock).

I saw that your race split. I can't catch a break, heck the 11:15 race I did last Sunday night only had 6 entrants and didn't go official. Oh well. It's still fun anyway.

So last night I gave a different car a shot and entered the Jetta in a race at Zandvoort. I practiced, got competitive, qualified, etc. On the start I got bogged down due to the bizarre tranny and fell back to third, it took me 2/3 of the race to get back to 2nd (cleanly), and I had a 4-5 laps to catch first from a 5 second gap. I reeled in 1st to less than a second gap on the last lap but ran out of time.

The point of the story is I ended up second, got fastest lap, zero incidents, and had a great race that I was pretty proud of, and after it's all said and done I lost 25 iRating. WTF?

I guess his iRating was so much lower than mine that the sim assumed I should have won, therefore coming in 2nd still cost me. Dammit man.

It was fun though.

Weird on the iRating. *most* of the races where I've checked that afterwards show top 1/2 to 2/3 gain iR and anyone below loses iR.

Caddy at Sonoma. Did warmup. Did the pit lane start due to narrow. Spun out of the carousel for a 0x--2x. Otherwise incident free. Made 0 competitive passes, just dropouts and one guy who pitted. +.15SR and +.4bump'd to C4.44.

Mustangs at the Glen...

Start 13 of 20somthing, last of the q'd cars. Couple of pit starters, couple of early crashed, suddenly 7th. Keep clawing to 3rd eventually until I get told I won't make it on fuel. Try conservation mode, lose two spots. Three corners to go I get the hiccups and the guy behind me gets caught off guard, punches me in the trunk and spins us both. Exiting for a tow ends my race and I finish 13th. -.08 for 7 incidents, the 4X and 3 off tracks

Gotta not trust the fuel menu in game. Padded it by several laps, but not enough i guess

iSpeed gives accurate mileage, but it's a 5 lap average and I had no laps logged on th Fr500S on the boot course.

In game fuel menu must be run by McLaren. I wouldn't trust it. At least they didn't supply the pit crew too...

Well then, the SRF is a SOB Took my first foray into the tuning screen this morning. Tried to take out some of the 'ima gonna kiilll you' with limited success. Better driver needed to keep the tail in check for more than a lap or two in succession. This ride really exemplifies the smooth is fast adage.

I got one acceptable and one really good race in the Mustang last night (I had two terrible races earlier this week that I needed to erase). The first one got me a little worked up because I got in to a wreck on lap 8. I found myself in a 3 way fight with 2 guys that were about the same pace as I was and we were reasonably patient with each other. The lead car in the pack was defending every corner, but as the third car I wasn't about to push the issue just to swap spots with the 2nd car. This slowed us a bunch and we were caught up by 3 more cars. These guys weren't very patient and we started bumping and fighting for the back 3 or 4 spots, which I thought was silly. I tried to defend my line in to the heel of the boot and got bumped and half spun. Correcting myself I tagged one of the other cars and spun us both hard. I ended up finishing 7th that race thanks to a bunch of incidents elsewhere, one of which was caught John (Spec), and considering the decent SOF I scored a decent 83 points. I told them I had no sympathy for people who didn't qualify but then raced aggressively.

The next race was much better and completely uneventful other than passing the 4th place car after he got a bad run through t1. We drag raced up the hill and I outbraked him in to the interloop. 104 points.

Interesting races in the Stanger last night, eh? I'm still partially bummed about the virtual death I got to enjoy in race 1. Oddly enough some dude was streaming the race over at GT Planet so we can all enjoy it now.

Forgetful, I know you are in the stream a good amount, the death incident I was involved in was around 22:45 in the stream.

^That's the link, I hope it'll work. It was a brilliant race until the last lap. I should have know after watching so many Watkins Glen races that two cars don't play well there, but I thought Fernando was going to back down.....I also thought I had enough room. I didn't.

I'll claim this to be my 2nd best virtual death....only to be beaten by the Nurburgring "big one" that some of us here will remember.

FYI Promotions happen tomorrow so if your SR is above 3.0 and you've fulfilled your MPR you'll get bumped up a license, I think.

Got bumped up to D, but it's been a week since i last got to sit down and do some iRacing. Going to live my life in the Skippy for a while and dedicate myself to some open-wheeled goodness.

I just got to review the incident and I don't think it was your fault. I think it's more of a "racing incident" due to not having a good peripheral view to your left. Same thing that happened to me on the last lap. I thought I had the room, but guessed and guessed wrong. I think in your case though, you just didn't know the guy was there from being turned by the white Mustang.

Just did a race for this week at Okayama....what an armpit of a track in the Mustang. That track is a tire eater for an understeering heavy car.

Also, I was in the high 45's, then I softened the front bar to soft (kept no bar in rear) and added some bias to the front brakes to keep the car planted on corner entry. I think my bias ended up at 71%

These changes helped me get into the high 44's. Well.....either it was the changes, or I just got more used to the track. Hell...I never know, I'm no engineer; I just drive the thing.

Sweet, thanks. Dropped the rear ARB and just won the last race. Was on pole, so I figured I was in the second split, but turns out I was in split 1 of 2. It was just weak turn out. My SOF was 14xx.

lead 15 of 16, 1 off track, so 94pts and +.11 SR. Been flirting with C 4.0, but i've gotten close and then had bad bad races three times. One of them cost me .33

Thanks G44, if you caught me mid race I was on cruise control. After my two biggest competitors tagged each other I was focusing on keeping my incidents at zero and not goofing up. I've led an entire race once during season 1 and spun by myself on the last lap...that'll never happen again.

Thanks for the compliment, and Mid Ohio is super tough to find ultimate speed at, so don't beat yourself up.

Agreed on MO being tough. Just hard to swallow running off/wide repeatedly, being my home track and all. Just need to take running an excellent handling kart outta my head and learn me how to wrestle da Stang
