this is indeed fun, q'd and jumped right into my first race this morning. Got rewarded with my first pole and my first club points. Wasn't quite enough for the win though, but coming 2nd only 0.3s behind the fastest Solstice isn't that bad for me either.

Quite intense race with different cars on the track. I like it; I guess I'll come back more often this week

I am betting small but dedicated fields, like the Lotus 79 only faaaaar more insane. I am so looking forward to this. Bet the license level will be quite high, so I have my work cut out for me, which is too bad because that's going to cut in to the time I want to spend just cruising around Zandvoort in it...

At CMS you can run halfway across the white lines that layout T2 and 3. Use that banking to its fullest. Too far will net you a black flag, but not an off track. The curbs in 4 and 5 will give you an off track if you hit them with two wheels. They might also pop you off in to the dunes. If running the Solstice, don't use 5th unless you're drafting.

Got my L2 Safe driver award last night. Had a good strong 2nd place finish in the Mustang at Scummit Point with no incidents, so I went to Slime Rock and ran a lame, weak 8th place by forgoing my 4th place grid position to start from the safety of the pits, then giving the few cars I did pass wide berths.

my best is still 1'22.1; during a race I'm between 1'22.5 and 1'23.5 most of the time. Key to success is to somehow survive turn 1 (pole helps a lot here) and then just stay on track.

OK, that sounds about right. Now need the consistency to not spend every 3rd lap in the garage. How much fuel are you filling? Not that it matters. At this point I'm doing better things for my SR by NOT getting on track.

it's about 4 gallons - good for 30 laps. I believe one less is not enough. On my last race I got a 5 lap warning at the beginning of my last lap.

I just came out of a very exciting race. Was third in class for the most time only about 3s behind 1st and 2nd. I could keep it that close because they were battling each other for the win.

In lap 19 they took each other out and I cruised to victory earning over 90 iRating points. Do I have to feel guilty that I was kind of hoping that this would happen for the last 5 laps before the incident?

Naaaahhh, a win is a win is a win. And it's not like I had anything to do with it.

And Thomas aka Rooster was in the field too, but looked like he had some issues in lap 1 or 2 so I didn't see him a lot. Still good to see familiar names in the grid.

I don't always go oval racing, but when I do, I hang back hoping that will happen for the first 80% of the race, then explode in a ball of fiery death when I get impatient and finally try and make a pass... but it's not my fault! .... ....

I've never oval raced. Some say it's because I just don't like it, others say it's because I'm a road race snob. Truth is, I just don't have time....but also don't care to try and find the time to see if I like it.

One day I may give it a shot, you dudes seem to have a lot of fun with it. Again, it's great to see such a talented group of drivers move from one sim to the other. It's cool seeing everyone's iRating climb up. Great job guys!

It was Prologue that broke me of my Oval hatred. I realized that the simplicity of the sport is what makes it so difficult. Because it's car racing in a very simple form it's highly competitive, and because it's highly competitive it's difficult. And it's not like it's just turning left. At full speed we find ourselves back at the limits of grip. Oversteer, understeer, entry, mid corner speed, power on exit, it's all the same balance of inputs, and it can be just as much of a workout to make the same 4 lefts as it is to tackle 13 different corners.

You know that increased level of tension that comes with having a car beside you fighting for position? That can go on for laps on end, especially after starts and re-starts.

Just bought some stuff. Pre-orderd the 49, bought the 79 and the Falcon, Zolder and two short track ovals so I can get my Oval license up in the next few weeks. I own all of the normal circuits and all but a few cars that turn right (HPD, Dallara, Radical, Star Mazda and the Billiams FW31)

Took the 79 for a spin and it was joyous. It's surprisingly forgiving. Dat 11k scream.

Took the Falcon for a spin and it's not quite what I expected. It's a pig! It's fun, but it requires huge steering inputs, is only capable of one thing at a time, and can spin the tires up even at lower revs.
