DriverSports Progression Club | Mon 16 | Stealth Mod | Silvia S15 '02 | GVE
Welcome to the DriverSorts.org Progression Club, an introduction to the methods of car building and event restrictions at the disposal of the DriverSports event staff. Beginning with a stock car in week 1, we will progress to a lightly tuned street car the 2nd week, a mild Race Modifed version in week 3 and a potent race car in the final event. Tires will advance accordingly as well.
This month's subject is the premium Nissan Silvia Spec-R Aero (S15) '02. This lightweight RWD is a favourite of drifters and is often overlooked in the world of competitive racing. Thanks to PD's Race Modified version it's a great platform for this series, starting off as a mild RWD street car and ending up a serious track car. It is our intention to promote a better understanding of how and why we allow certain parts and disallow others.
Week 1 will run with Tuning Prohibited to experience the stock car on the Sports Hard rubber it was born with. Week 2 will see the tuning restriction lifted and the 'Stealth Modifications' and Sports Medium tires allowed. Week 3 will bring the Racing Modification in to the mix (please note that after race modifying a car it needs to be broken in again). The stealth mods will stay, but an increase in power and speed will come with the Racing Modification and jump to Sports Soft tires. The final week will be run with all of the engine upgrades allowed, except for the turbos, what we call 'Max RPM', while also advancing to Racing Hard tires. All four events will have TCS disabled and ABS allowed.

Re: DriverSports Progression Club | Mon 16 | Stealth Mod | Silvia S15 '02 | GVE
This event is being run with Stealth Modification regulations and 99 kg of ballast weight, the position of which is optional.
Modifications that cannot be detected are allowed. Replays show a car's redline and boost gauge, which means events can be set to allow only the parts that do not increase a car's redline beyond it's stock setting. These 'undetectable' parts are the Intake and Exhaust manifolds, Air Filters and Supercharger, as well as oil change and break-in hp gains. Suspension and Drivetrain parts are also unverifiable so those modifications are always allowed as well. On most cars the different turbos produce different boost values, visible in replays, allowing for restriction by individual turbo modification. Superchargers can not be detected but often provide so much power that the redundant PP restriction should make it obvious and deter its use, though the league will usually allow it instead. Transmission upgrades can be detected by the audible gear whine, so events can be run with the stock transmission or the Fully Customizable Transmission, at the event creator's discretion. The same audible test allows for specific exhausts to be selected in certain cases. Specific number plates, colours, rims and aerodynamic parts are easily restricted by visual inspection. All weight reductions will be required to maintain consistency, though ballast weight may be required. League officials will check event replays to ensure the legality of all competitors in events where these restrictions are in place. Hosts will set the appropriate PP restriction as a redundant precaution.

When built to the listed specs, my car makes 462pp instead of the allowed 461 if the ballast is positioned at +8 or greater.

Well then, don't put it past where the PP changes I guess.

Or ... add the 6kg at position 50 to get the pp down ...
Additionally, the RM-max numbers are short or something. I have one with stage 3 engine done and all the parts on it. I put it back to default turbo and it makes 381hp with just 25km on it. The tuning screen rpm is correct.

I plan to prepare and q for this later this evening. Does anyone already have a tune for this? I checked gtdata but couldn't find a tune.
If not I work with my standard 'tune'
Until we get more than one division the pre-q is kind of obsolete anyway.

I haven't been out other than to check the build(s), so I'll just be on my RWD calibrated guess of 1.1s camber, no toe, 25/25/5 LSD when I next go out.

submitted a 1'12.531; car is now at Laguna Seca and I go to bed. I'll adjust my tune tomorrow if new information is available.
See you all tomorrow night.

After coming back from Laguna Seca my car has now also 462pp. To get back to 461 I can either use the limiter, add 6kg or move the weight. Are all 3 solutions within the rules?

Yep. I'd go with the extra 6kg in the back.

Are you sure? The reading says 99kg ballast, not AT LEAST 99kg ballast. Wording change?

We can only tell whether you're at at least a minimum weight via the room weight setting, we can't tell whether you're overweight.

I found a tune for the car on gtdata but it is using a customized transmission. I just want to confirm that we are supposed to use the standard transmission. Correct?

Oh bugger. I saw custom suspension and figured transmission would be similar. I might have time to do another Pre Q set before race time.

congrats to the win timneyb
I guess the only one who could have kept up with you might have been Rooster but he had bad luck in lap 1. I lost every lap a few tenth on you and the later in the race the more I lost.
But I had robiker with me and we stayed close together all the way to lap 31 when I got myself into trouble and damaged the car. That was really fun robiker
Gotta say I like the events; race length, tire choice, heavy damage and pre race qualifying; it all fits my taste.

Fun times last night (until I put 'er in a wall..!) and I feel SOOOOOO good about how I did.
Y'see, Reading Is Fundamental.
My car had the two manifolds, air filter, Sport Medium tires & paint. *Had I been playing a-bloody tention* I would have gotten the weight reduction. No wonder I was only at 452pp at race start w/ a not-broken-in car.
Next time I'll take off the ankle weights.

Great to finally get to run with you guys over here. I guess I should be much more cautious on lap 1 in a race because those mediums were really squirrely compared to my lounge in practice.
Apologies again on my not so rookie screw-up on lap 1

Thanks vk. Wound up gifted a 3 second lead on lap 1 when bamboo slid off on cold tires and rooster got too close to avoid the mess. They bounced apart right in front of me like the proverbial Red Sea. With no battle I could just control the gap while preserving the tires. Thems the breaks.
Agreed I like the events so far. I'm a fan of Sports and Comfort tires, in particular. Sports Softs in that race would have forced some to pit, which may or may not have provided additional interest.
All we need is growing participation.
lol Revengel.

Hey, it happens! At least you had the chance to keep on driving & catch up to some in the field!
GRATS on the win (and lapping me) Timneyb!
