DriverSports Cappuccino Cup | Friday June 15 | Cappi (EA21R) | Autumn Ring Mini
DriverSports is proud to present our latest challenge, the Cappucino Cup. A six week series using three phases of car specification based on the '95 Suzuki Cappucino. Drivers will run the first two weeks on the default Comfort Medium tires with Tuning Prohibited. The second stint of the series will move to an Improved Specification (fully lightened, with Stealth Modifications to the engine, and fully tuned except aero) on Comfort Soft tires. We will then finish the last two weeks with the Race Modified version (again limited to Stealth Modifications on the engine but with any turbo upgrade) on Sports Medium tires. Races will be roughly 50 mins long. Registration closes at 8:45 and the Drivers Meeting begins at 9:00 and ends at 9:10 pm EST.
Phase 1: Tuning Prohibited, Comfort Medium tires, no TCS, ABS or other aids.

Just about to make up the DriverSports lounge if it's not already.

Booted from lounge, and then black screen trying to get back in. Whittled down to 49.009, with brakes about 3/1 or 2/1 or 2/0 or thereabouts, and it takes about 10 laps to heat the tires.

ran a dozen or so laps in a broke-in car this morning. best i could do was a 50.336 with 3rd gear all the way around except turn 1 in 2nd. exit of turn 2 will be exciting ... bring your cameras

I'm in 3rd gear all the way around, possible exception for 4th in the last turn (not sure yet).

i'll look at the power band tonight. i know its low, but 3rd thru turn 1? thats real low, like 3.5/4K rpm? i'd be able to tell if 3rd was faster .... if i could have put a few consistent laps together. :-)

Yea, we found that fourth in the last corner if you time it right climbs pretty good, and surprisingly doesn't lug. ya wanna be be doing 59-60 mph. It'll get ya up to 72 or better down the straight (72 lol) . Another good thing is even I'll prolly do a no stop.

Live quali:
me 49.722
robiker 50.087
Rooster 50.331
Wall 50.624
Agent 50.848
Race finish:
me 50'44.344
Rooster +5.095
robiker +6.420
Agent +1'58.966
Wall +2'27.135
I got started about two seconds late in both the quali race and the real race. Didn't matter for quali, made the race interesting. Took a few laps to get by Agent/Wall, then I ran behind Rooster for what seemed like ages. I don't remember how I got by Rooster but he did fade back for a bit then caught back up to the lead battle later. Didn't get by robiker until about 15 to go, I was typically faster up the hill and had to work to get a run timed to make the pass. Almost punted him into the lake once fooling with my brake bias, no apparent damage though.
Good times.

No harm done. Our lines entering that turn were very different.
I was surprised to lead the race for that long, but it's hard to pass in those cars at that track.
I think I made more mistakes on the last three laps than I made the entire first 58. When Rooster got next to me I tried to look right to see where he was, forgetting that I had changed my button settings for an e-brake.
Great race guys.

That car is a blast lol. I knew I couldn't stay with the fast guys so I concentrated on staying off the wall and working on my throttle control. I'm always either all or nuttin, so that needs work. I spun a few times but never got damage and don't think I got out of control once on the last turn which has been a problem spot.
Thanks Agent for hosting and for hangin out so we could run together for a lot of fun laps.

no problem on both counts.
i wasnt as fast as the others either, but maybe a touch faster than you. where did that leave me? running tt's by myself. much more funner running with someone else, so i'll 99% of the time wait up. before getting lapped the 2nd time, i took off to try to stay ahead of 'em ... i did for about ten laps; then they got me. i meant to pull in behind rooster and tail them the rest of the way, but i waited to long to tuck in and they drove off ... lol.
good times ....thanks!

Sweating through the chair just adds to the realism.
