I call those corners "Oh Crap" and "Not again dammit"!!!!

I've been refering to them in Top Gear terms:

Turn 9 = Ambitious, It's going well. /Clarkson voice;
Turn 10 = Rubbish, OH NO, MY HEAD IS ON FIRE! /Clarkson voice.

Shame I couldn't make it 4 tonight!

Ran both the SRF and Skippy in practice at Phillip Island only so far and found good pace straight away in the Ford, so moved over to the Skippy.

I was also having some concerns with my wheel settings (G27) so looked around the iRacing forums for solutions. Now I can feel all the bumps in the track!! Lol. Needless to say, this made the Skippy feel very different but I think I've got used to it and will be looking to qualify tomorrow with a view to a couple of races through the weekend.

Hopefully I can maintain my pace in the SRF too now my wheel appears to be working correctly,

Update!

Graphics

- Substantial reduction in microstutters due to off-screen shadow map generation.

- Optimized render state changes with shadow maps enabled.

- Increase the framerate limit option's maximum from 169 FPS to 334 FPS.


Force Feedback

- Increase maximum force feedback strength from 40 to 60 to help compensate for the weaker forces some cars are producing with this season's physics.

- Added in new app.ini parameters to reduce the amount of FFB communication we do. This may help with a few users with buggy wheels.

- Add in app.ini [Misc] FFBAlwaysReset=1 Setting this to 0 will force the FFB code back to the old way where we only reset at startup and shutdown (and hopefully when changing wheels).

- Add in app.ini [Misc] FFBRetryCount=5 Setting this to 1 goes back to the old way of only trying to initialize the FFB once, even if we failed for any reason.


Chat Hotkeys

- Make chat hotkeys work when out of car. This allows for custom hotkeys of admin commands.


Reloading Car Textures

- Fix a bug that would let you unload the car textures but not be able to load them again, when you turned off 'load textures while driving'.

- Added in support for reloading individual cars textures from telemetry. This will make it so the white flash will only occur for a single car when a new texture arrives.

- If you have turned off the ability to reload textures while driving, the sim will queue up any requests for new textures and the next time you get out of your car the sim will load those textures then.


Telemetry

- Add SimMode: replay or full to telemetry, this lets motion platforms determine if they are in a user loaded replay or they just hopped out of a live car.

- Output car class position to telemetry.

- Output league ID to telemetry for Trading Paints to use.


Race Control

- Triggering a gained time slowdown at any point during qualifying will invalidate the current lap.


Spotting

- Fix a bug where having a spotter could cause private messages or admin commands to go to the spotter instead of the driver.


Sponsors

- Fixed the DSD sponsorship so it shows up in the paintkit properly.


Flexible Drivetrains

- Fixed the bug where sometimes downshifts wouldn't complete in the cars with computer shifter gearboxes, such as the Williams FW31, McLaren, and Dallara.

- The new flex in drivetrains seems to make it a little riskier to blow up a motor from aggressive downshifting. We have eased the engine damage thresholds correspondingly for the following cars:

Oulton Park Circuit

- It is no longer possible to cut the chicanes on the back straight and still gain overall laptime.

Street Stock road course setup you say? I tried to take my SS to Brad's Hatch just to look at my paint but it wouldn't let me on track, failed tech cause of the oval setup. I just hammered on the settings until it was legal and went out on track, but it was terrible so I just went back to painting. Wonder if it'll be any fun with a decent set on it?

The last thing I saw last night was a very impressive q-time by John.

I spun in T2, and then again later, plus another off. Finished 7th I think. Ran the race after it and spun in that as well, finished 3rd I think.

Stephen ran an incident free race and finished 5th I think, maybe 4th?

John was mixing it up with the two other front-runners until a spin in T2 left him 10 seconds or so back from the two leaders. He finished 3rd.

The last thing I saw last night was a very impressive q-time by John.

Thanks VK! The night went way better than planned. Like I said; many times in practice I tend to over drive due to not getting tagged for incidents; then I find myself getting a speed I'm comfortable with in qualifying and the race. I hadn't entered an official qualifying session yet, but was really have trouble even putting a few laps together in practice. Thankfully everything came together on Wednesday night and ended up having a pretty decent night.

I started on pole the first race and had a strong fight for the lead for the first two laps, then Leo G got around me and over slowed into one of the hairpins causing me to bobble and spin. I recovered and rejoined the circuit in 5th and steadily made it back to the lead. Leo G. got taken out by someone which helped. I happily took the win.

The second race was fun because Forgetful and Rack were in attendance so we all looked really pretty in our matching cars. I had a super run for the first 7 laps staying within 5-7 tenths of Amjed with Leo G. right behind me. I bobbled in the 2nd hairpin which put Leo right next to me entering 1, so I gave him the inside into 2, and of course being too gentleman-like I gave him too much room and put my right rear on the dirt in the exit of 2 and spun. Thankfully I stopped in the right direction on the track and kept going, but it cost me 7 seconds and I ended up 3rd.

It was a good night, unfortunately my bizarre Season 1 2013 winning streak ended, but thankfully it was without to many incidents and a podium; so I'll take it!

I may be on tonight, if any of you dudes are on too, I'll look you up.
