Quick question...Was just in a race and in 2nd the whole way, but had a few chances to pass because of lap traffic. I didn't cuz I didn't think it was proper. Was I right or should I have taken the spot? Thanks,

Negotiating lapped traffic is a skill. If you're better at it and get a run on someone, then by all means, use it to your advantage and make the pass.

Even if there's nothing other guy could've done better, always capitalize on those situations, because the other guy definitely will if he's the one behind.

just got promoted to Class D and my iRating is 1614. Very Happy

On the flip side my winning days might be over as I get into higher splits Shocked I don't really care about winning too much although I must admit it feels good. Laughing

I plan to stay in the nvidia cup this week although I really don't like the Okayama short course that much. Not sure if it is because I suck at it or because I don't find a rhythm. Most likely the truth is that I suck at it because I don't find a rhythm Razz

But if it goes too much on my nerves I try out the inRacingNews Challenge with the Solstice. I believe tuning is allowed there, so you know what is coming next: Does anyone have a tune for the Solstice (preferrable for this week's Jefferson Course)? How good or bad is the baseline tune?

Baseline tune on the Solstice ain't bad imo. Just have the rear toe set to 0 to free it up a touch. Ran both Oky long and Jefferson that way. Was actually having quite a bit of fun last night at Jefferson. Tricky little course that is much better if you can stay away from traffic. It is just too tight and narrow for me to effectively run with close company.
Will be curious if someone feels differently about the baseline tune as I was quite a bit off the lead Solstice's pace.

I like OkAida. It's a bit more modern than LRP or Summit. Less cambered surfaces easier to learn.

The Slowstice only hasa few tunable parts. Tire pressure, caster, camber, toe and fuel. I just run a bunch of laps, tune towards more even temps and wear. Basic stuff like if the middle is hot your pressure is too high. Too much inside too much camber, etc.

All I've tuned on the Solstice is taking fuel out. Keep meaning to steal a tune from either racesetups or an iForum thread but it handles fine for me. Maybe wears the fronts a bit heavier by the end of the race, no problem to adjust to. Knowing the lap count for the race, take fuel out until the estimated laps showing on the F4 screen when on-track (don't even have to leave the pits) is higher. Seems to estimate almost exactly what I use in a race.

iSpeed has an average fuel consumption per lap of the race feature which I find very handy, for what it's worth.

LOL, I sent him a commiseration note, because I think he was decent and clean. I also watched you for a couple but saw that you got into a spin. Wasn't looking closely at that instant, so I couldn't tell if you jumped or were pushed. I got a tap into a spin there the previous run.

Reaching 4.0 gives you an early promotion. Next regular promo is on the 24th.

Lol on the spin. Yea, I got a little wide (still on track though) being careful on cold tires and the guy behind thought he should pass me there, hence the spin. Amazingly only body damage and a hint of control issue but not bad. Started in back and finished 6th out of 11.

On the promotions thing in the forums there was a blip about "fast track" by hittin 4.00. Then I guess you get promoted right away?

Rookies get promoted at the end of each month, if they are above 3.00 and have completed their "MPR", or Minimum Participation Requirements, which is either 4 races or 4 time trials at or above your license level.

Anyone can fasttrack to the next license by going over 4.00 and completing their MPR.

Not sure when non-rookies would get promoted as a group just for being above 3.00 at the right time. End of each season maybe?

On the top banner, beside the picture of your helmet, are the MPR, PING and CRED hover-overs that show you the relevant info.

I'm starting to like Okayama more and more even though I'm still off pace a bit. Just had a fantastic race which I should have finished 4th if I wasn't taken out on the last turn of the last lap. Sad

I haven't turned a lap yet, but I know Road America well enough that I hope to put my son to bed and be on the rig by 7:15, turn some practice laps -> 7:45 Qualify -> 8:15 race. If all goes well I'll be primed and ready for the 10:15 race. My plan is to qualify good enough to be ahead of the RWD cars. It shouldn't bee too hard considering the long straights here.
