Re: GT6 Nürburgring Production Car Time Trial Competition.
did you see the 22B Subaru replica that ran Pike's Peak with a diesel? The chassis is for sale...sans diesel though. :-)
I should probably stick to Subarus in the game...I've had the same 04 USDM STi since I brought her home new in early 04....still run her in autocross. Still, I guess that's the fun of the game. Trying to see what I can do with some older Civics...no time to post as yet....
Was the Elco on the limiter much...surprisingly not, the designers gave it a top speed of 140. They were...creative with the brakes too...since it still had brakes after three or four corners.

Looks like I have an El Kabong (GING!) in my buy list. But first, a gaggle of times (pictars to come later - as in once I upload them to site)
Each of these was performed with an old DFP – Driving Force Pro – which I’ve had since GT4. Dr. Mrs. Got it for me on my birthday lo those many years ago. Sorry I left that out of my original post.

Saw that exact 22B-y thing on Bringatrailer recently.
Nice. I put a couple thousand km on an '04 WRX STi spec C ... in GT4. Was good for rally. Probably still sitting there ... in the GT4 garage ... unwashed.
El Kabong on buy list +1 - I bought the C3 vert again (for muscle car races) just like I did in 5, primarily because it has a useful rear axle ratio without buying a transmission.

So I got the fastest color I could find (Maroon FTW) and hung my Quickdraw McGraw 1972 Christmas ornament on the rear view mirror and went to Germany.

This thing has two speeds like my old AMF Roadmaster bike.
Also, also. Go to the custom bin. Check other. Get bed cover. I prefer the semi-camper version . . . and would love it if you could paint that big thing. Alas as I discovered with the second El Kabong (GING) I bought you can paint the wheels and the body . . . but not the big white tailgate cover. The regular covers you can paint.
I'll post a time for the Fisker Karma. I have one, but it lacks quality. Actually I kind of wonder why they rated that thing so high.

Good work! Clearly I'll have to practice some more in the Elco, as they are or used to be called in California where I grew up. (what is that reference you keep making to El Kabong - I did a search and found someone's 79 "statement" car - that it? or?) The old ones did have powerglides (2 sp auto).
probably doesn't matter, but did you run that time with a camper shell?
The times we're seeing out of these cars make me think the 'ring isn't as accurately calibrated in the game as they used to claim it was....

Re: GT6 Nürburgring Production Car Time Trial Competition.
I think their 'ring is pretty accurate, if not laser scanned. I believe they started laser scanning some time after GT4.
Back in GT5 (same track model) I ran the ZR1 to within .005 of the then track record.

Jump to 0:44 to get to the driving.
This is a stock 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (C6) running at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Gran Turismo 5.
While competing in a Time Trial competition at DriverSports.org I ran this lap of 7'26.395. I later ran faster, but I saved and recorded this fast lap because it came in 0.005 seconds faster than the real world record set the first time the ZR1 took to the 'ring (7.26.4).https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6mEir...
1st cut is onboard, 2nd is the same lap from the cinematic cameras. Jump to 8:10 view the 2nd cut

No shell on my run. Pure stock.
El Kabong is a reference to a character from the old Hanna-Barbera cartoon "Quickdraw McGraw" that I watched growing up as a kid here in the D.C.area.
Times . . . I chalk it up to the lack of fear and the lack of mechanical wear. Run an El Camino to the red for ten minutes at a time and see what happens to your engine in real life. Also tires make a great difference.

Cool.
An original SS El Camino would have fried its brakes / boiled the brake fluid almost immediately...
Still, fun in the game! Must try harder. :-)

Re: GT6 Nürburgring Production Car Time Trial Competition.
stock suspended 1967 el camino SS faster than stock 06 s2K = pretty absurd, even if it's running Rivals or some ultra modern tire and the s2k has some kind of all season with soft sidewalls....
still...I want to see your elco replay too! that seems just smokin' fast (well done again!).

Re: GT6 Nürburgring Production Car Time Trial Competition.
Now to be fair to the S2000 I only ran a couple laps (football was about to start - HTTR!) so I could knock a few seconds off the time of the S2000 around the ring. Also it had Comfort Soft tires which are straight out of Sears if you ask me (though they are likely Firestone all-season radials). In comparison the Sport Hards are closer to Pirelli P-Zeros on a '67 El Kabong.
Replay sent when I can for YouTube postage.
Back on the tire topic, anyone who reads Motor Trend, they had a great article on tires in this last issue. They took three cars - the BRZ/FRS, Mustang Boss(?) and BMW 3 series. Just changing those tires had lap differences, but not always as significant as you think. They point out that the cars are tuned (suspension wise) to the stock tires - something especially true of the Sciobaru.

Re: GT6 Nürburgring Production Car Time Trial Competition.
Used to be all muscle cars came with CS tires. If it's got the gears for it I can see it. Should be fun to watch at that kind of pace.
I ran two cars today
Scion FR-S '12 - 8:16.936 - 413PP - SH - 29/12/2013
Mini Cooper 1.3i '98 - 10:17.847 - 324PP - CM - 29/12/2013

Re: GT6 Nürburgring Production Car Time Trial Competition.
give me pristine examples of both cars, and any track you like, assume Rivals or Dunlop Star Specs (both of which are the current cream of the crop for street tire SCCA classes) on the elco, and sears roadmasters on the S2k. The results won't be pretty for the elco.
it's fine, this is a game, and we all have the same game to play...jus' sayin.

I'm sure if you dig up a S2k on SH tires, or a muscle car on CS, it would be a better comparison. Part of this exercise is flushing out the anomalies in the game.
Of note, it looks like they fixed the weight distributions on those Hondas. The premium car I have is 50:50. IIRC GT5 had the premium car as a MR conversion at almost 40:60

Premo S2k in 5 was 50:50 (as all S2ks were). Of note, the new Bawse Mustang is correct 54:46 instead of the crappy 65:35 that the '05-'07s got in 5. That excited me. Should run that at some point, also the '04 Z06 with it's stripes and pop-ups needs the exercise - that Esprit has been up to for too long.
8:4x in a stock S2k was about what they ran in 5 on the (dis)comfort softs. And they were all on C-s stock. Don't know why it gets to be on those when the BRZ/86/FR-S get S-h and in real life they're on Prius tires (and Prii get comfort mediums in GT5/6). Ah well, weirdo anomalies continue unabated. Still fun to wrestle most stuff around.

Re: GT6 Nürburgring Production Car Time Trial Competition.
Hm, must have been mistaken about the weight distribution. Maybe it was the Mustanks I was thinking of.
I can certainly attest to the fact that my FR-S doesn't have that much grip. CS would probably be more appropriate.
