Re: Formula 1 2013 - The Official Discussion Thread
Notice the lack of vanity panel. I don't suspect that many teams are going to run them. No control over the design = no ability to fiddle with for aero purposes. Plus, flex-i-nose is probably going to be in play with the top teams and no team is going to risk the nose flexing and popping the panel off. Bit of a dead give away...
Apparently, Red Bull had done quite a bit of work in developing a nose cone that flexed, as opposed to the front-wing flexing that they (and a lot of teams) were doing before. Clever bastages...

Is that gold or ... beige trim? Also other than Total I don't know what any other sponsor does or is. That includes CNBC.

Burn - For-Hire Arson.
Renault - Hires Burn to burn land, see: Communists.

Yeah, wondered about that. All of the static displays of F1 cars have these polished tires on them. Are those actual tires that someone is buffing up to that shine, or are they plastic replacements? Special display only tires?

I'd bet Armor All or some similar spray-on jive that makes for the shiny for 10 days then brownness forever after.

I like that you specify to keep it brief... Vanity/modesty panel is a piece that the FIA provides the teams that fits in to the space vacated by the 'stepped' nose. The Ferrari nose is too high for that to be solid, so they must have fitted the break-away vanity panel to get the nose to be that shape.

The F2012 had kind of a half fin:

Sweet, sweet crash debris detected.
edit: and, for brevity, you should have just said 'stepped nose wheelchair ramp'.

Updated the main thread with the launch picture of the new Sauber, and it looks fantastic!
Took me a while to remember who in hell was going to be driving for them this year... Oh, and before I forget, Mercedes will reveal their car if they get enough retweets... Personally, I hope they get no retweets and they just never launch their car. But I'm afraid Twitter doesn't work like that.

Amazing what you can do with a livery with so few logos in the way.

What's the number they gave? Because if they didn't say a number you know they're totally scared of lack of attention (typical marketing).

The site is designed to automatically reveal and so far as I am aware, the site has been down all day!
