Here is a pic of what we have been working on for Kia. Just to be clear, the car is not ready for release. We built it specifically for the trade show application. We will release the car once it is done, but we are a ways away from that. Sorry, I don't have an expected date to announce but it will definitely not be this build.

The track on the other hand is much closer to completion. It is looking good for making the build but again, no guarantees

There's a decent slate of Touring and GT race cars coming down the pipe. The BTCC, GT3 and GT2 BMWs, NGTC Civic and the SGT HSV-10 Hondas. Nice balance 4 RWD and with the Kia, 2 FWD. Low, medium and high powered and Aero'd.

I hope participation can handle all of that, or will some cars simply get retired from official series... maybe buried in 4 and 5 car MC series'?

Matt Plumb and I just tore through a field of the Grand Touring Cup. We were the first two un-q'd miatas, starting side by side. We both blitzed the two Jettas that started the row in front of us by going up the middle. Then, for the next 10 laps I tailed him as we worked our way through the slower q'd cars. I even tried to put a pass on the Pro a couple of times while we were trying to pass cars, but once it all settled in we had climbed to 3rd and 4th overall, 2nd and 3rd in class. We couldn't reel in the last two leaders, but I'll never forget that race, that's for sure Very Happy

Started work on the SRF first, template is a bit difficult to work in so step 1 is to make some changes to allow for better workflow. I'm going for a very close concept of that BAR, with the white/red and blue halves. Will post screenshots once I have template worked out and the base colors down.

One of the tips I read was to lay a numbered grid over the car and apply it as a spot checker so you know what part of the car is represented on the 2D skin. Also you can make use of the layers they provide, there's a thread about manipulating the RGB base schemes.

Yep, not as interesting as coming up with my own. I have a template I used when I did flight sim skinning which was a series of colored lines, which you overlay the paint and then view it in the game so you can see the orientation of the part and what part is where.

Where the template gets messy to work with is when you want precise patterns painted, I like to use a separate layer for each section of the car so that it's a clearly defined part and I can use precise masking to make sure that the bits all line up. If it's helpful, I could probably screenshot the progress of the template itself and what it is that I'm doing as a sort of training manual?

As a terrible artist (An Art teacher once took a paintbrush away from me and just said, "Oh... oh no."), so I tend to make the software do as much of the work as possible to when bringing a design to life. Laughing

Does 3000 combined count? I just got my D License for oval. My iRating is 1586 for oval and 1585 for road. Interesting especially since I've started almost every oval race from the back. I'm not very fast on the oval; everyone just crashes out in front of me.

I was looking at the D level oval series. You have to buy a car for every series and most of the series you have to buy many tracks. I just can't see spending large amounts of money for a series of ovals. One oval track costs about the same as a road track.

I've run enough races this season to be entered in the sim experience contest. I have about 6 more to get entered for the G27. I figure that I have the best chance to win the G27 since I don't need a new wheel. Derek Speares has a contest for next season where he is giving away a button box every week. I'd like to win one of those.

There's a C class series for the Street Stock, but ya, I haven't done any oval racing in a while for the same reason. Too much of an investment for something I won't use a lot. Of course as events work in the Rovals and some special events with Oval cars on road courses I'll eventually acquire most of them. I hear the trucks and Late Models get on road courses fairly often.

I led my first race from start to finish yesterday. Too bad it wasn't official. Too bad I was the only car on the track. Not a single other car in the Mustang 11:15 race. Couldn't believe it.

That was actually the exception. I've run a handful of races there this week and I've score a bunch of 0 inc races. I got a 4x later in that race when I was trying to pass a Jetta (the faster MX-5s end up beating slower VWs). Couldn't believe I made through that though.

What am I missing in regards to the points system ? I had 886 pts. in GT Cup heading in to this weekend, and after scoring a 112 point win last night I check the points today and it's showing me with 895. Logical explanation, or glitch ? If the points were stuck at 886 itn would be easy to assume the system is temporarily broken, but why add 9 pts. for no apparent reason ?

- How the points system works, the basics.
For each 12 week series, only your 8 best weeks are counted. Your lowest 4 weekly results (be it actual points or 0 point weeks when you did not participate) will automatically be dropped.
Each weekly score consists of your best 25% of your individual results that week.

So, 1-4 races, best race scores.
5-8 races, 2 best races averaged.
9-12 races, 3 best races averaged.

This is why I've been running the MX-5 so much in the GTC. I run my 4 races in the Solstice, get my best possible points, then park it for the week and farm SR and iR with cars in series that I don't care about the championship.

Also, thanks for openning the door for the division 2 title. I'll be dropping a 64 pt week from my slump earlier this season, which should make it very close at the end Twisted Evil
